Why? I mean, why took it that long? With some consoles in the past I understood that the whole marketing, localization, availability of games, production capacities etc. led to different release dates in Japan, the US and Europe. But 2+ years to bring the Deck to Australia?

I do have a really peculiar issue. Whenever I start Steam via desktop icon which has a
line, the client will start but will only show the indicator which in turn apart from allowing to exit the client will play dead. When starting from the command line with
it works as expected (as does Steam when installed as snap package).
I wouldn't say it sucks but it... has issues.

I don't have any problems with it.. In what way does it suck?

Last Epoch drops the Native Linux version, devs tell players to use Proton

I got it refunded and later in a bundle for free. Still never played it. But back in the day I would back pretty much anything that promised a Linux version. Things have changed dramatically over the last couple of years. Now my pile of shame is growing every month and pretty much any title would be playable on my Linux rig.

Quoting: TightRopeRealistically, I would rather a studio just make one good version and make sure it runs well on proton. Be up front about that decision. I know money is a big factor. I don't want a bad version, no one patches, handed to me to play.
I bought Kingdom Come Deliverance on Kickstarter many years ago, with the promise of a native Linux version. They pulled out of that at the last minute. I still have it in my library and have never played it. It pisses me off every time I look at it.

Terrible idea. Then the Steam forums would be full of complaints about missing features and bugs - which besides would never be fixed.

It doesn't. I am on Mesa 24.2.2 and the issue - while becoming way less frequent - still exists. It's more like "brief flashes" every now and then, though very rarely it kinda "sticks".

Quoting: chrI'm still having a rare sunlight glare issue on my AMD setup. Though something similar-sounding was mentioned a couple of patches ago, so I suspect they fixed that on the newest Mesa, and I should finally stop procrastinating and update my old system.
The issue basically removes color and ups the whites on the game view, making distinguishing objects much harder. I haven't bothered doing anything because appears only roughly in 1/20 of the matches and lasts a minute in the absolute worst case.

Whoa! Have to check that out. Always had to disable the second monitor prior to starting a match.

Quoting: apemaxThis update also finally fixes the mouse cursor leaving the game window on Wayland issue, For me at least on Gnome/Arch. :)

Quoting: EikeQuoting: gaboverstaRecently a German YouTube channel made a video about handheld gaming desktops and articulated that they were all infuriatingly unusable. Windows being the reason. Naturally, the Steam Deck was the exception.
This channel of Gamers gaming (and editing etc.) on Windows made a point out of the Steam Deck being great because it uses Linux and the customizability that comes with that.
We truly have come far.
Could you look that video?
