You can help fund the Unreal Engine Editor development specifically for Linux compatibility

Quoting: t3gI hope this developer realizes that Epic is going to take his code, lock it down, not give it back to the community (it's not GPL), and then make millions of dollars from publishers...

Millions of dollars! For the enhanced Linux support. Sounds like a slight exaggeration. Unless of course Linux becomes the prime gaming platform in the coming years.

The original 1997 version of FPS ‘Shadow Warrior’ is now FREE on GOG, along with both expansions

Quoting: deathxxxHow to HELL download this game on GOG ???
It's no direct link. Always redirect with gogdownloader ????

What's your problem? You put in your cart and check it out. Then you can download it.

A Linux release for Kingdom Come: Deliverance still looks very unclear

Got my Kickstarter funding back from them. Despite being complete pricks with their communication "policy" this worked without any hiccups and in a rather professional manner.

Rogue Stormers from the Giana Sisters developers is now on Linux, an action heavy platformer

Oh dear... If it wasn't for GOL i'd never notice games ported to Linux at a later date.
Unless you explicitly search for "Rogue Stormers" on Steam, you won't notice its availabilty since it first appeared months ago for other platforms. Valve - are you doing this deliberately?

Project Cars official twitter confirms to me there are no plans for it on Linux now

Quoting: TuxeeDid anyone seriously think that Project Cars would ever see the light of day on SteamOS? The announcement was more than vague. There are a far more "outspoken" candidates out there which still have to deliver - Rocket League comes to my mind. And to spare you some future disappointment: If Star Citizen ever will be finished, we still won't see a Linux version. As with Kingdom Come: Deliverance (which reminds me, that I should finally get my refund from those bastards).

Star citizen is coming to Linux, and its been confirmed mutliple times.
Also the game is expected to be released by the end of the year.

The reason we dont have a port is because OpenGL are missing stuff along with cryengien.
But they will work on it.

Ofcourse they could probably back out, but I doubt it.
You can just ask the support what the exact problem are at the moment and Im sure they give u a strait answer.

About as confirmed as HL3.

There has never been an explicit confirmation of a Linux version ("looking into it", "some time after release", etc). If I'm wrong: Send pix to prove it. For a start: Why did they pick Cryengine which Linux support is spotty at best, and was de-facto non-existent when RSI decided upon it.

QuoteThe irony: Your purchase will count as Windows sale.

Well: If the purchase was done on Linux and not played in the first week, it still is a Linux sale. However, it also depends on how the publisher interprets statistics, and for a game not available on Linux... he might just add up the numbers and treat everything as Windows.

I'm familiar with that. Since there is only a Windows version it will be counted as Windows sale, regardless of being installed or played. It escapes me, why people buy games "because something was promised" - buy it when it is real. Perhaps even worse than pre-ordering (one can assume that a game will be released at a given date - see XCOM 2).

Quoting: gojulBought this one, trusting their lies. I should not have done so. Now they can wait for a loooooooooooooooooong loooooooooooooooooooong time for my money...

Don't blame them for your - sorry for sounding so harsh - stupidity. It was pretty clear from the get go (or at least soon afterwards), that they would release the Linux version very very late, if at all (particularly when they dropped the Wii U version in July 2015). The irony: Your purchase will count as Windows sale. And they couldn't care less about the "we won't support you in the future" because the worst that happens, is that people refrain from pre-ordering. If they'd churn out PC2 for Linux in a reasonable state: How many would not buy "because they never released PC1 for my favourite platform"?
Lesson learned: Never pre-order. Or rather: Never order on wishful thinking.

Life is Strange released for Linux & SteamOS, some thoughts and a port report included

Quoting: MblackwellAlright but:
Quoting: leillo197570-80 fps in High Quality with a GTX950-2GB and Intel i5-2500 (3.3GHZx4). A really decent port. Good job, Feral!

I played about an hour and the game seems to be interesting. I will play it more this weekend

I checked online and that's about the speed that Windows users were getting with that hardware.

The problem here is that this Feral port requires way more hardware power to get the job done..
The requirements differences between Window$ and Linux (native) are huge

MINIMUM:
OS: Windows Vista
Processor: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: ATI or NVidia card w/ 512 MB RAM (not recommended for Intel HD Graphics cards)
DirectX: Version 9.0
Storage: 5 GB available space

MINIMUM:
OS: Ubuntu 16.04 / SteamOS 2.0
Processor: Intel i3 or AMD FX6300
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA 640 (1GB), AMD R9 270, Intel Iris Pro 6200 or better
Storage: 16 GB available space
Additional Notes: NVIDIA GPU's require Driver version 367.27 (tested). AMD and Intel GPU's require MESA 11.2 (tested). AMD GPUs are not supported on SteamOS

The minimum requirements are mostly irrelevant and can state pretty much everything. E.g. why should the game use 3 times more hard disk space on Linux than on Windows? An i3 processor is dual core and some models run hardly above 2GHz and the "ATI or NVidia card w/ 512MB" can mean anything. I seriously doubt, that the game will run on a 20-dollar-passively-cooled AMD5450 - but they come with one Gig RAM... IOW: The Linux minimum specs will ensure a reasonably running game. The Windows minimum specifications would result in a slide show at best.

Runs at 80 to 100 fps at high settings 1200p on my GTX960. Another great port by Feral. Hooray.
What now?
