The Steam Linux market share for June was 0.52% as Steam is still growing rather rapidly

That said, my two cents in this seasonal conversation is that not everyone who gives Linux a shot sticks with it. I'm an IT professional who works on a team of admins that administer many Windows and Linux servers. We all despise Windows (supposedly), but guess how many of us run a Linux/GNU computer for personal use? Just me. It's too much work to not be mainstream.
Of course, I love Linux/GNU and don't imagine myself leaving any time (never say "never" ). But other people? They probably need to grow up with it, or there is like no hope.

Quoting: Whitewolfe80Honestly and I know am going to get slated for it this is just one more nail in the coffin for me the lack of triple a gaming on linux this year aside from Tomb Raider reboot 2 means and i hate to say it i am going back to dual booting after six years on pure linux. That's a bummer for you. For me, I'd go to PS4 before Windows and keep a Linux computer. Windows 10 is like renting a computer. It's not yours.

The presentation looks very good. I might actually pick this one up, despite my usual "meh" feeling toward pixel graphics.

Quoting: mylkaI'm not sure if this is still the case, but years ago, EA games were removed from Steam because they breached Valve's policy of no in-game purchases.Quoting: F.UltraQuoting: mylkamaybe they get more money with each sale, but now they have higher costes. own servers and linux programmer for the launcher
maybe gog follows
I think that it's simply that they have now grown big enough to where those costs are less than having to give away 30% of each sale to companies such as Valve.
Now I don't have longer data than back to 2013 in the database (they listed their share in 2016) but they seam to have made some nice increase in both sales and profit (ptp in the table below is the pre-tax-profit) and while not close to a behemoth like EA they are probably as I wrote before closing in on the kind of sales numbers where 30% suddenly are quite a lot of actual money (aprox 35M EUR in 2017 if we assume that all sales are from places like Steam).
does steam really take 30%. assassins creed costs the same on steam and uplay. actually its now cheaper in the steam sale, than the uplay sale
why wouldnt ubisoft make their games like 10-20% cheaper in their own store? the customers would pay less, so they would get more costumers and they would make more money with each sale
why is EA selling their games only on origin, but ubisoft isnt, if they would save so much money?
Quoting: mortigarWorks good on ubuntu 18.04 needed to install libgconf-2-4 no biggie though :DBut wait, your profile icon says Manjaro.

This looks very promising. I hope it comes to Linux. I have to be honest and say that this game made me think of Astroneer every second, which has already been confirmed for Linux in Q2, 2018. I'm also looking forward to that one.

I bought this game with intent on my wife playing it and me watching. That hasn't happened yet. Perhaps I should just play it myself. :P
The FPS Insurgency: Sandstorm looks good from the E3 trailer

The graphics don't really look any better than PS3 Socom, except the resolution. I find that disappointing. I like Insurgency a lot. I have 36 hours logged. (Hey, that's pretty good considering how little I play shooters these days.) But a graphics overhaul to, say, an Insurgency 2 would be quite nice.
Still, there's a pretty good chance I'll get this Sandstorm game on Linux.

I ruled this one out because I heard that the co-op wasn't great... something to the effect of too little interaction. Has anyone played co-op? I am not sure I'd play For The King on my own unless there is a cool story. I don't play a lot of single-player games just because they're mechanically good.
