Basemark GPU is a new benchmark tool that supports Linux and many different APIs

Quoting: PikoloIt would have to beat Phoronix Test Suite to be considered... and since it's not open source, it would have to beat it quite a bit.

apples & oranges, near as I can tell. This is a standalone benchmark, not a tool to run other benchmarks.
The reason this GPU benchmark is very appealing to me is because I haven't been able to run the GPU tests from Phoronix. The only GPU benchmarks that work for me are Unigine Heaven and Unigine Valley.

Due to my pile of unplayed games, I can live with a delay. As long as it comes to Linux before the graphics are ancient and it runs well, I will be pleased enough. If it was a multiplayer games that my friends wanted to play with me now, it would be a different story.

The information is definitely worth posting. Sounds promising and worth getting excited. Worth backing, though? Probably prudent to wait and see.

I'll have to have my wife watch this trailer. I was thinking it'd be fun to play with her, but I don't know if she's up to that level of frantic. She might be.

Because we'd play locally, this is one rare case that I wouldn't mind lack of cross-platform play too much.

I really appreciate the graphics more than PUBG. I would like a proper replacement to PUBG that works on Linux and lets me play with my Windows buddies.

Valve have released a new Steam Beta Client with a richer Discord-like chat interface

You can already do these things in the Steam client:
- Add voice to group chat
- Chat history
- Tabbed chats
- Appear offline

I don't like that the voice chat won't be P2P anymore. I would rather not have the session go through a middle-man. Oh well. I don't use Steam voice chat anyway.

Quoting: TiedemannSome time in the future we will be so incredibly fortunate that we can use a MS account to log on to github, then we can use the same account to log on to the MS store and buy games to run them on Linux. I'm scared.

Anyway, I really look forward to this game. It looks great and crazy enough to be interesting.
Even though I am also scared, think of this as well:
- Look at Visual Studio Code. It's open sourced and it runs on Linux. Granted, this product is not a game.
- If MS store games really did work on Linux, then we wouldn't have much reason to dislike MS DRM any more than Steam DRM.

Might mean that their existing products and services are not growing.

I like the news, but I'm now pretty tired of how bad the Steam UI is. I think the supposed overhaul needs to be priority 1.

Quoting: 14At the end of the day, I barely rely on the Steam store page to find new games that I might be interested in. The avenues that make me curios of new games: GoL, Twitch, GOG, Co-Optimus.
I basically use GamingOnLinux. When a game is talked about here that seems like my kind of thing, I put it on my Steam wishlist. Never end up with Windows-only games that way!
During a Twitch stream, I actually asked Co-Optimus if they would add whether a game supported Linux or not on their website and they thought it was a good idea. It was on their site within two weeks!
