Reports: Valve making their own VR HMD and apparently a new VR Half-Life

Quoting: slaapliedjeThe nausea issue is different per person for sure. Like I can handle some of the worse offenders (like Windlands where you can shoot out claws like in Bionic Commando and swing from tree to tree) Mostly it's the motion of going forward when your body physically is not that makes people want to spew.

Somebody thought implementing "Segway-Style" controls in CaveQuake (Roomsize) was a good idea. Which actually makes me nauseous. No problem with Vivecraft (keyboard-style motion control) however.

Quoting: kuhpunktIt seems like you've never experienced VR. Correct me if I'm wrong... but playing VR games with keyboard and mouse aren't really good. Just explain to me how you're supposed to aim, view and turn around with a VR headset and keyboard mouse.

I correct you ;). I had a Vive (until I broke the base stations and didn't bother to replace it). The headset you use for head movement exclusively, movement with keys, and aiming with the mouse. And the only thing that's really troublesome is the keyboard.

Maybe something like a strap-on version of this would work: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/T9-One-Hand-Hand-Keyboard-One-Hand-Gaming-Keyboard-Single-Hand-Gaming-Keyboard-LED-Backlight-Professional/32705825192.html Probably with less keys, and with the keys braill'ed so you can find them by touch alone.

That is far from the truth. Imagine Quake 3 in VR. How are you supposed to move? That just doesn't work. VR is its own thing.
How am I moving when using a normal screen? Exactly.

Yes, there's a problem because you don't know where your fingers on the keyboard are, thus some kind of controller would help; but otherwise this works as expected.

Quoting: kuhpunktI'm still baffled how many people think that HL3 would be a VR game. That makes no sense and would be a very very dumb idea.

No, it wouldn't. Obviously Valve is waiting for the right time - VR is affordable for everyone in the future like it was for smartphones (2007) at some point, and the internet and computers in the past and so on ....

So? That's still dumb. That's like making 2 movies and then releasing the third part of the story as a card game.

No, it's like releasing the third part for IMAX-theatres, but not for normal ones.

Every first-person perspective game would be basically better with VR, unless it needs a lot of GUI. The Problem is that some people don't realize that most games want to be played from the couch, and not while standing up and walking around the room.

Meltys Quest, a completely uncensored 2D RPG full of sex is now available on Linux

Quoting: BreezeThis game makes HuniePop (even with the uncensored patch) look like an E for Everyone game in comparison.

It is. However, it's probably only E for Everyone in Europe.

Quote"Once sales start dying and a minimum time has passed, I will release the game source code as some kind of open source. I'm not very happy with the draconian nature of (L)GPL, nor do I believe the other licenses have much merit other than to boost the egos of the original authors, so I might just possibly release it all as public domain. Sword-fighter 'Blade Symphony' is now officially on Linux, free to try for a few days with a big sale (updated!)

It's nice to see it on Linux. I bought and tried it, but this game is totally weird; the action there bears no resemblance to any kind of sword-fighting.

If you want some kind of good-looking tactical beat-em-up, it's probably for you, if you want something that's really about sword-fighting, don't.

Disclaimer: I do H.E.M.A, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_European_martial_arts Long sword mainly.

GOG have added a bunch of Hidden Object puzzle games from Artifex Mundi

You can see that they come from the initial genre of hidden object puzzle, but actually, most of them do feel much more like adventures. They have a coherent plot, and the puzzles usually make sense within that plot.

Life Is Strange 2 has an official teaser ahead of a full reveal later this month

Wasn't hard at all. I just managed to find the time (or rather: liked to do just that instead of something else) to play "Life is Strange". I had no idea what I was letting myself in for. Oh boy.

I'm looking forward to "Life is Strange 2" anyway; will buy as it comes available for Linux (and ideally all episodes at once).
