VK9, the open source project to implement d3d9 over Vulkan reaches another milestone

Could this lead to more ports of old/legacy games and, eventually, a discontinuation/lose purpose of Wine for games?

Quoting: Mountain ManI won't be backing - I'm against "crowd funding" on general principle
I haven't really thought through my position on crowd funding, since I don't have a ton of spare funds to be part of a crowd with. So, genuinely wondering, not snarking--what general principle? And, against its existence or against getting involved?
Basically, crowd funding puts 100% of the risk on the customer while the customer gets nothing substantial in return. It's free money for the developer with zero accountability. We've seen this countless times with developers backing out of promises, releasing clearly unfinished games, or simply abandoning a project. It's a bad idea that needs to go away.

How exactly does the customer got nothing substantial in return?
I've participated in 6-7 crowd founder programs, and they've delivered every time (though not exactly on time), at a lower price than initial retail price.

True.

I've backed more than 30 projects myself (from games to bike accessories, going through table top games, food, social projects and clothes) and I have received already more than a 66% of them. Some were as I expected and other weren't but that happens with every single product bought.

I think most people back things without actually putting a thought on it, like if was just buying a product and the issue lies there in my opinion.

What concerns me is that AMD SoC and the SteamOS version.

What are you playing this weekend?

I'm trying to finish all my Windows games at the moment so I can't finally scrap it for good. After finishing The Banner Saga 2 I'm going to start with The Wolf Among Us.

Makes sense, GOG summer sales finish the 22nd.

Quoting: damarrinThe first Gabriel Knight was one of my best point-and-click experiences. Jane Jensen's games went downhill after that, but I'm still hoping for a fun time. I already have this on GOG, got it in a surprise sale where they were giving out random extra games, hope the Linux version gets added there, too.

Well... Gabriel Knight 2 was better than the first one and Gabriel Knight 3 had one of the best 3D ideas for graphic adventures I remember. The story and puzzles a bit worse than the others though. Gray Matter went downhill, I agree, although still enjoyable.

Awesome, would love to see it in Linux... Although I heard is pretty bad written. Damn you, Jane Jensen!
