Overwatch 2 heads to Steam making it even easier on Steam Deck / Linux

I have all my old blizzard games on battle.net so I'm not really too bothered about them being on steam, although it's great for steam deck. I personally wish battle.net would make a Linux launcher as it's not so clean to run through 3rd party tools.

If this had been available when I was looking for a laptop I definitely would have considered grabbing one. I love the modular design and ability to repair and upgrade fairly easy.

Are all these RTX remasters Nvidia only or can they be played on AMD and Intel GPU's? Portal is up there with some of my fav games.

I played quite a few hours of this game but never got back to it. I was enjoying what I was playing, I think I might have got stuck trying to make progress possibly. It runs really well through proton, so worth a shot if you haven't tried it already (especially if its free).

Quoting: lejimsterI don't know anything about this game, but I believe the last Mortal Kombat game they decided they wanted to make the female characters less sexualized, cover them up. Made zero sense to me. The series has always been "mature" with its finishing moves etc, why are they getting upset over a bit of extra flesh.

At least in that case they told us ahead of time and you can choose not to buy the game. If a game that you enjoy gets a "woke update" that significantly alters the game you purchased in a way you hate, then we have a problem.

Man, it would be great to see Scorpion baring his chest, right? Maybe tone down those long, baggy trousers and get those rippling thighs into shot? Get some crotch physics on display?

Or, wait. Is it only the women we're allowed to sexualise because gaming remains a male dominant industry? And why is it male dominant?

Oh.

Plenty of male characters in Mortal Kombat show a lot of flesh. The boss' from the original game were very flesh heavy. Ok maybe they went even more extreme with some of the future games (I will admit I haven't played every iteration of MK), my point being is it's a mature, graphic fighting game. You have characters doing extremely over the top violent things in the game and nobody is complaining. Make a character too sexy and all hell breaks loose.

Steam Deck now the global #1 top seller on Steam

It's a great little device. I got mine last year. I don't actually use it a ton, but I had to buy one to support the Linux gaming effort Valve have been putting in.

It's really nice to see it being discounted and selling out. The Ally might have better specs but if somebody offered me a swap for my Deck I'd take a pass on that.

ideally it would be good if it sold well for another couple of years or more and we saw more devs target the platform.

Overkill drops Linux support for PAYDAY 2

They could do a quick and easy "native" port with dxvk. But what's the point when steam does that with proton anyway. As long as they support proton and fix any issues with that, it makes more sense at this time. But I think if sufficient market share is gained for the Linux desktop you would hope more effort is done to focus on true native cross platform support.

Linux hits a multi-year high for user share on Steam thanks to Steam Deck

Quoting: gradyvuckovic
Quoting: Mountain ManIt's somewhat disheartening that despite a big multi-year push from Valve, Linux still sits behind MacOS at less 1.5% market share.
It's OK, this was always going to be a marathon and not a sprint. The important thing is that Linux's marketshare is growing and as long as it maintains that direction, this can take as long as necessary.
2 years ago, MacOS was closer to 3%, and Linux was back at 0.8%. Now it's more like 1.5% vs 2.4%. We're much closer and still gaining ground.

Also while the percentage is relatively low, remember 1.5% market share now is many more people than a few years ago as the user base has grown considerably. I think the English tracker is more encouraging as we can see some big movement.

40% of Linux gamers on Steam are Arch based, with the growth of SteamOS I can see that passing 50% by the end of the year. Kinda crazy but neat to see the rise of Arch.

The overall Linux growth is looking real healthy, I'm convinced more and more will consider switching their desktop machines to Linux after using the Steam Deck.
