Quoting: ArehandoroYeah, that work's although missing out on the story isn't a big let down :/

I'm also running on 390.42, will wait to 390.48 and see what happens.
390.48 does not change it for me
But it's only the 5 short "movie" cutscenes you miss out on with -skipmovies and someone was nice enough to put them on youtube it seems.

Quoting: AnzaI have vague memory that there was a fix that involved modifying OpenAL configuration file. I found this configuration file from my disk:

.alsoftrc

And contents are following:

drivers=alsa,pulse,oss

Those settings might help or not. That's order in which audio drivers are tried. What driver works best might depend on your setup.

I think that configuration came from Virtual Programming GitHub, but as that's no longer public, I can't really check the original source.

Interesting!
Will keep it in mind in case I ever get the itch for another playthrough.
Hope your finding helps people enjoying their first run!

Definitely a nice game.
In case someone is having problems with stuttering starting on the menu screen: for some reason loading into a game closing it completely and then and starting it a second time always fixed it for me.

NieR:Automata because it is a high quality game with some original ideas unlike most run-of-the-mill AAA games these days.

Endless Space 2 because I like good 4x games and this one is actually pretty :D (same is true for Endless Legend by the way)

Elex We are sadly missing a Gothic 1/Risen 1 style game on Linux so far

BATTLETECH will only be coming to Linux post-launch, along with other features

Sure it sucks, but for now I am still willing to give 'em the benefit of doubt.
They clearly stated Linux version along with some other promised features is planned post release and they do have a good track record of polishing and adding content to their titles after release. Let's keep the pitchfork in the barn for now (Tiki torches are in short supply anyway currently I am told) and make sure they know we definitely do want their games on Linux instead.

Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition is again showing signs of possible Linux support

Quoting: HoriI had the impression that most players didn't like this game too much, compared to the other ones in the series (both newer and older). Or was it only a problem at launch?

What do you guys think?
It was a mess at release, but they patched it into shape. There is still some things the later "Attila" does better, but "Rome 2" has the more attractive time line and setting for most people. I seem to remember quite a few people declaring "Attila" the superior title and then returning to play "Rome 2" for one reason or another ;-)
