Quoting: PhlebiacCrazy that EGS has given away so many games - I have never given them any money. Anyway, I was curious if, in the case of overlap, a game would be listed with dual store badges, or would get an entry for each store. It gets an entry for each store - makes sense, I guess, since you may want different settings for some reason.

Well, the good part is that they indeed went to the trouble of giving both D:OS games a very usable separate controller UI so them being a little exited about the deck can only be beneficial for the future. And who knows - they managed to produce a working native Linux port for the fist one...eventually...so there is always hope.
To be honest I am a little more concerned with their general polish of their games, though: while the first D:OS was a diamond in the rough the second one is basically worse in everything but graphics. If they would at least fix their line of sight system so the AI does not constantly 'cheat' by attacking through objects or obstacles the shortcomings of the story could probably be forgiven but as it stands D:OS2 is an utter disappointment unfortunately. Anyway, I wish them luck and many successful and polished titles for the future! - there is always hope at least ;-)

The deb-get tool helps Ubuntu (and derivative distro) fans grab extra apps

The idea is cool, but it is a bit slow. For most people it would probably be less hassle and time to simply download their one or two apps from a browser. The other thing is: these kind of tools are most useful if they come with your distro out of the box. Having to install/update an app that then helps install/update (for most users) one or two other apps is a bit stretch. On the other hand, maybe it will mature a little and be adopted wore widely in the future. I still like the idea of the Software Boutique app, although I never had a true use-case for it.

Well, the name is creepy, at least. Kind of 'screen filling Cortana messages during the original Win10 install'-level, I'd say. We'll see.
BTW Liam do we really need citations of empty marketing speech under these articles? Unless they actually say something important there is plenty of hot air out there already and we DO have to think of the climate change, mind you. ;-)

Remember the time basically every major application had a .deb package available and most the disk space was available for games and data and stuff, because applications where small and started nearly instantly and... actually...worked...?
I mean seriously, what is the goal of this? To accelerate climate change by being intentionally wasteful? To incite social unrest by creating an atmosphere comparable to a traffic jam whenever one opens an application?

Well it is a bit funny to install a Fatpak to see where you might have ended up wasting space on your drives.
On a more general not I still wonder why given the push to use Flatpaks did not result in mayor DEs developing gui tools that automatically check if runtimes are still required by other applications or can be savely removed and therefor offer the option to do so. It is pretty dumb to advocate ease of use and then leave the machines of users littered with orphaned runtimes unless they drop to the command line.

Quoting: iiari...I can't believe in 2022 there are still distros like Mint and I'm guessing Elementary where full reinstalls are necessary for version upgrades? Wow....They are not and have not been for years.
