FX Technology tease their upgraded screen for Steam Deck

Wow, Is the Deck just 40% AdobeRGB?
Somebody corrects me if I'm wrong, since I'm more pratocal about NTSC and SRGB colorspaces, but it seems AdobeRGB is equivalent to NTSC, and 40% means seriously washed out colors (how does the red looks on the Deck, kinda orange-ish?), more or less the same you find in 300/400 euros laptops; good for office use, but definitely NOT for running games or watching movies, what a shame.

The ability to set options *may* actually degrade performance, this is expecially true in gpu and shader programming.
That's because the preprocessor or the compiler itself cannot optimize the code in advance to avoid possible code branching, precalculate things and so on.
I don't know if this is the case, but I'd think twice before shooting in the legs someone that *probably* knows better than us his work.
Instead, I'd applaude their work because that would mean that they are really pursuing better performance, which today is a very, VERY rare thing.

Quoting: spayder26You know? Putting money to get something without knowing what you're getting because of the unlikely possibility of getting something valuable is called gambling.100% agreed, I think there's even laws in my country that forbids online ga,bling wothout proper authorization, but somehow they don't consider those 'bundles' gambling, go figure why.
And I won't be supporting gambling.

Driver updates for AMD RADV to give nice boost for Linux and Steam Deck

Isn't this a new extension?
Doesn't the GPL need to be explicitely supported by the game engine or dxvk and the likes?

Quoting: MangojuicedrinkerI don't follow, how do you enable it manually since months?Quoting: DamonLinuxPLWorth to add to use GPL you need good CPU. If someone try it on old or weak CPU then game experience can be worse. The important thing is that you can easily turn it off. Just a reminder, in case anyone else experiences this.I don't think this is true.. I've been gaming for a few months now on Mint with gpl enabled manually on 8 years old 4790k (though my gpu is new) and for example on God of War (2018) FPS is very good (though stuttering exists but less so than on Windows 7 + dxvk where gpl does not exist). Another example, Plague Tale Requiem has basically same performance with/without gpl (tho didn't test much without gpl..) on 4790k.. can't say I have seen any performance tanking on my CPU (it runs good btw considering my CPU..)

Ubisoft hiring Linux developer talent for XDefiant

So they are trying to hire a developer without being even clear about the job?
It seems more like a promotional thing than a job opportunity.

Is there any kind of source about the fact that it is the Steam Deck to have pushed Microsoft more than other reasons or it is deduction/speculation?

Do you have more precise numbers on how much overhead one should expect on cpu side?

From whai I've read, the GPL feature needs specific userspace support by the "game".
