Metro Exodus from 4A and Deep Silver has officially released for Linux
16 April 2021 at 10:01 am UTC

Quoting: SystemShockPlayed "Metro Exodus" under Proton until yesterday.
Actually I assumed that a huge download will be necessary to play it in the native version...
But far from it !
I had to download only about 195 MB and could then immediately play the native Linux version. Apparently only the part with the engine is exchanged, the assets remain the same, that's really clever solved.
The performance is really good, everything is damn smooth.
I am very satisfied, thanks 4A Games. :-)

That's great to hear.
Does it run any better?
Out of curiosity, do you know if is it still using some libdxvk.so in the linux build like it does on stadia?

This post is bloating, i don't think asking people to partecipate to the giveaway that way has been a good idea.
Looking forward to some performance tests!

I would go for the 1080p@60fps profile, but my cpu is only an i5/4590, so i hope the game will be not *that* cpu bound!
My cpu never maxed out his usage during gaming till now.

I played through Outlast, but gave up on Whistleblower due to the same reasons.

Quoting: kokoko3kAnd finally, i gave up on the observer, not splatter, but man, it toke me soo bad.

I don't understand what you're saying?
Eheh, sorry, language barrier here.
I meant ">Observer_" the game, and in italian "splatter" is a term that stands for english "gore".
I don't know why using an english term to indicate a different meaning, i just learnt about that :)

Quoting: Guest*Me who survived Alien: Isolation (on Nightmare!), Outlast 1&2, Call of Chtulhu and more*

Ah, a child mode! o.o
Soma was really the best for me, man, what a story.
I survived alien isolation, much fun, really!
Outlast, too much anxiety, stress and i hate to make things with too much hurry.
Call of Chtulhu: do you suggest it?
And finally, i gave up on the observer, not splatter, but man, it toke me soo bad.
Being in theme, i can suggest you Omen exitio, if you like Lovecraft, a nice and relaxing way to enjoy a good thrilling story.

Looks like Narita Boy from Studio Koba will now not be supported on Linux

Quoting: PrzmkThen why the hell put Linux as a stretch goal if you're not going to respect it anyway?
And how can you not know that demand for Linux games is not very big unless you've been living in cave for the past 5 years?

I'm sure it wasn't malicious but they sure didn't do a single bit of research.
I want to trust them,

* BE OPTIMISTIC! *

This means their game is so bad, they don't expect to sell so much.

Quoting: Luke_NukemIt will more than likely work fine in Proton.
Not the point though, is it.
Or it is the point right now?
I mean, at least give backers support for Proton!
Take a proton build, verify it works, say it will work on linux with that proton version, profit.

It's hard to say. The LucasArts adventures are, I think, the best games ever made. But I'd played them before. I hadn't played through the remasters, though, which is why they were in my backlog.

The ones I play with my little one are an amazing experience because I'm playing them with my little one. Solving puzzles and exploring game worlds is great, but watching a five year old solve puzzles and explore game worlds is a whole other level.

Either way, there's a ton of great gaming to be done on Linux, and that's the main thing.
Have to quote every single line in your post, sharing your childhood games with your children is a priceless experience.
I tried to make she play with the oroginal version of monkey 1 and 2, but she preferred the remaster (she was 5, i think).
But now that she's 8, she's enjoying undertale, so maybe i will try again with scummvm in the future:)

Quoting: CatKillerI've been trying to clear some of my backlog.

Monkey Island
Monkey Island 2
Monkey Island 3

About ten minutes of Monkey Island 4 before I gave up on it.

Full Throttle
Whispering Willows
Grim Fandango
Helium Rain
CAT Interstellar
Near Death
Sigma Theory
Jotun

My little one's been playing Minecraft, Qube 2, Contraption Maker, Slime Rancher, Pikuniku, and Area 86. He's also decided that he really wants to play Tacoma, which I'd lined up as my next one to play through, but I'm trying to gently discourage that, since I suspect it will get grim at some point.
Which one do you liked most?
For me, it was Monkey 2
