Quoting: LeopardIf Unreal didn't fix their VLK renderer we might end up playing this on DXVK for getting good performance.

If anyone wants to try how bad is their VLK renderer , there is a demo of game Supraland on Steam. Simply run it natively first ( it is using VLK on Linux) and then go with Proton.
For trhe record, everspace native opengl performs about 20% better than everspace via proton and dxvk.
Tested that on a gtx 1060 and 1050ti
Supraland is another story.
So you cannot just take a game to represent the whole picture.

I did not bothered at all, because it seems what i've downloaded from gog was simply corrupted.
So i downloaded another *outdated* copy from somewhere.

Quoting: Liam DaweThankfully on Arch/Manjaro you can just grab fs2-knossos from the AUR. Edit: Although I can't actually build that myself <_< errors with npm...
pacman -S python-pyqtwebengine

You legend, I missed that comment somehow. As much as I appreciate people doing AUR packages, they really should check the deps <_<
Well the comment is from about a day ago, so probably the breakage is recent.

Quoting: kurpThanks for letting me know about FSOpen project, however it looks like a bit complicated process to use it.
Anyone tried the game just under Wine?
It seems you didn't bothered to read anything from the link posted, because setup is straightforward via knossos...

Quoting: bird_or_cageFinally played EVERSPACE past week as I wanted to understand if I should wishlist the next one, and it`s been collecting dust in my library for too long. Game is fun and looks and sounds great, but I am new to roguelikes (several hours Dead Cells, several hours Tangledeep, maybe 10 hours Prey: Mooncrash) and I am totally new to space sims. So far it is still too hard for me, I only got to Level 4 once, but I enjoy it.
I'm at sector 6 after 50 tries on normal level, it is damn fun.

Looks like Beyond a Steel Sky, the sequel to the classic Beneath a Steel Sky is coming to Linux

If they are really make a Linux version, i'm a little worried about system requirements.
You see, the Windows recommended hardware configuration is the minimum required to run on Linux.
Even the ram requirement is doubled (!)

Quoting: KlaasCodeweavers needs to be able to show that they have a clean room implementation of Microsoft technology if they want to be on the safe side. They are only able to do that if they don't employ someone that has looked at the original code or tried to de-assemble original code.
Are you stating their code is not " a clean room implementation of Microsoft technology " ?
How did you get that from what Klaas said? They can't employ people who've seen MSFT code or reverse-engineered it, so that their own code is clean. We can't make this much clearer...

Sorry for the confusion, i got it that way:
"Since codewavers didn't had a clean room implementation, they cannot hire anyone who has seen the original Microsoft code, because if they would, he could unveil the problem".
I know there was a simpler explaination, but bear with me, i'm not native english :)

QuoteNo exposure to Microsoft code or reverse-engineering of Microsoft software

Why is that? I'm curious I would have thought that the other way was preferable. (•ิ_•ิ)?

Because that would make it easier for Microsoft to sue them into oblivion.
I think they mean you'll not be sued by Microsoft for reverse enginering their code.
Why, i don't know.
