Ooooo, with the key bind to switch it, i hope it's only a matter of time till they implement alternate hands for us cross hand/eye dominant people!!

Or I could just do it with the key bind manually!! Lol!

Wait, are you a midwife in this game?!
I'm confused as well. Not sure if this is something added in 1.6 (which I haven't had much time to play yet) or something I'm just forgetting already exists.

I mostly assumed it was more playing matchmaker, lol. Midwifery never even occurred to me! My spare loves this game! They gonna be so excited!!

System Shock remake is getting a huge patch with big optimizations - great for Steam Deck

I highly recommend playing this game! It's a great remake, although I will admit I have some nostalgia for the original series from when I was a child.

As much as I loved SS2, I always felt it transitioned from survival horror to regular shooter to its determent, the beginning of that game was terrifying.

Valve fixes Remote Play on Steam Deck
3 March 2024 at 3:07 pm UTC

Glad they got it fixed! Hopefully they can fix it for desktop and Steam Link Hardware soon. The normal package seems to not properly switch the controller out of "desktop" profile and the flatpak seems to have a new bug where the menu and overlay don't appear (and sometimes the game window too!)

I spent several hours yesterday trying to get it to work to no avail. I finally just plugged the Deck into my TV and played it with a SC (not a problem there!). Maybe today I'll try streaming to the Deck and see if I can just replace the Link with it (I'm sure that's Valve's intention).

Even weirder, Streaming from the Deck to Link appeared to be just fine (I couldn't do much as it was using the Deck's wifi, which isn't great for this)

Remote Play broken on Steam Deck with the February stable update
29 February 2024 at 12:33 am UTC

Quoting: CatKillerThose are all entirely down to the game. If the game uses Steam Input, though, it does get appropriate controller glyphs automagically

Nice! I was unaware it did that through In Home Streaming! The last game I tried it with (Rimworld) did not work like that at all, despite very clearly being Deck Verified and having some way to tell it's running on a Deck and adjust accordingly. It's wasn't just the glyphs. The resolution was off, as was the interface scaling. It just seemed very half baked to me. Hence why I prefer to stream to my Link as opposed to the Deck.

Remote Play broken on Steam Deck with the February stable update
28 February 2024 at 9:21 pm UTC

Ironically, this week was the week I actually have time to stream from my desktop to my steam link in the living room. I'm assuming, since it was a client update, it's probably broken across the board.

I like the work they do, but Valve's overall support for their stuff, particularly remote play, isn't very good. It took them years to fix the audio corruption bug they introduced.

I will admit, my very few attempts to stream from PC to Deck were mostly a let down. One would think, since the whole thing is in Steam's walled garden, the serving computer would pass some info to the game about the client computer. It makes no sense to send a desktop experience (complete with glyphs, resolution and interface) to a deck client.

I hope they do fix it, though! I personally think streaming is the future for the deck as it ages. It would add a lot of longevity to the platform with newer and more demanding games!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl releases September 5th, 2024

I played all 3 several years ago along with a few mods (unoffical patch, some QOL, added missing quests, minor stuff). Ran practically perfectly through Lutris (from GOG).

The original was, by far, my favorite, being more open world, although, I did think they got better and better throughout the series.

I'm super excited for #2! I hope it runs well! I'd consider buying it a little after release (I wanna make sure it's good on Linux first)

Picked it up as well. I never played the series and have managed to exist this long knowing nothing about the plot. I'm intending to stream/dock it from the Deck onto the TV and play with my partner in the evenings starting next year (I hope)

Quoting: junibegoodI played 52 different games and my most played this year is Slay the Spire.

My most notable achievement is having played 0 game released in 2023. Why the hell am I reading a blog about gaming news ?

Lol!! I did that last year (and maybe a year before?) Bought no games. I splurged a bit this year with 1 "new release" (System shock). It was worth it!

But yeah, I have so many games, I don't really need to buy more, either!!
