Good on Valve to cancel. It's entertainment; no need to risk someone's health over tournament profits.

Provided you have a newer card to begin with. Per the article it's only for 20xx and 30xx series cards.
I must jokingly admit, I'm a little jealous I didn't wait a year and got a 1070Ti instead, lol

I agree one should, but realize that should is not will, even in more prosperous places.
Also, my liver is totally fine, what you getting at?!? 😝 Lol
That's a really interesting point there. To be honest I thought of it differently. I figure they used HL to bank on the nostalgia factor. Given the price, I figure they are almost targeting young professionals that have the disposable income, time, space and, importantly, grew up playing HL as teenagers or young adults. I can't imagine the target is a younger audience...
I mean, imagine your kid coming up to you and asking "Mom, can I have 1000 USD to buy this game and headset that looks cool?"

I can't imagine using this when my kids were babies (monitoring naps), my current aged kids (playtime), other people in the living room (some one gonna get hit), or really anywhere where some awareness is needed. Perhaps I'm the only one with these circumstances.

I don't know about your lives' circumstances(*) of course, but independent of VR, everybody should have at least a little time where he doesn't need to pay attention and can close the door behind them, I think. (I'm just arranging this for me and my wife, "just" four years after the children arrived. ;) )
(*) I had a great typo here: "livers' circumstances" :D

Quoting: DerpFoxThe other mistake was in a way HL:Alyx, the logic behind it is clear, get a flagship game to make people go VR. But with the price of VR in general putting countless people out, and the HL franchise has been gone for so long?

Thanks, I read some of the reviews when the game came out. I will have to re read them. I did find CK2 very difficult to understand, but I partly blamed that on my education. I know nothing of medieval Europe, so even the basic vocabulary was foreign. I'll likely have to suck it up if I want to play it (or CK3 I assume). I've put it on my list to play next after I finish the Witcher series. I actually think that caused my interest in the CK series.
Thank you for the advice!

Quoting: BTREThat said, play CK2 if you have it—it's also a fine game. It is definitely more difficult to get into, however

We did that... Used eggs. Had to carry the egg with you all day from class to class and everywhere else. Most made basket carriers and decorated the eggs to look like babies. Any cracks and you failed... Wasn't just for girls. Boys too.

Now the cockpit part of VR... Makes about an much sense as having a joystick and other accessories. I can see that.

Maybe someone can code a 'kid simulator'... then again maybe that is a horrible idea.Quoting: slaapliedjeI should spend more time in VR for sure. Also, someone should mod the rest of the Half-Life games into VR... I feel a lot will be left out / missing from Alyx's experience by making a flat version... Like being able to hide behind desks and throw grenades at the enemy. And realize how terrible you are at throwing things...
Don't need VR for that, I see it with shame every time I try to play with balls with my little ones (4 yo). :D
Absolutely. I heard they've given out baby simulation dolls to teenage girls - so they'd avoid teenage pregnancies. :-D

Thanks, that's the impression I've had give the rate and numerous expansions I've seen mentioned.
Still appreciated though. I was thinking of cases where some sequels are so improved that the earlier games aren't worth it.
I think you're right though. I don't really have a reason not to try it, especially since I'm not buying anything till 2022 at the earliest.
Thanks!!

Quoting: TheSHEEEPIt is also a Paradox game, though.
Those tend to not really be very meaty and "finished" until a year and a handful of patches and DLCs are in.

Quoting: ShabbyXmay be stating the obvious here, but you should probably first play the game you already have, see if you even like it, before you decide to by the sequel :D

So honest question....
Is CK3 so much better than 2 that is worth buying 3? Or should I hold off until it gets fleshed out with a couple more expansions?
I have CK2 and most of it's expansions, which cost a lot. I haven't played it much and would basically be a new player.... I guess I'm worried that I would spend a lot of money on a game I fundamentally already have.

Agreed. I've done Fallout and Freespace 2 (I owned 1 on CD). Great games.
If you decide to give Freespace a try, there is the superior open source engine. Just uses the data files. They even ported Freespace 1 to the engine and it plays much better. They even have some very good fan campaigns as well.
Probably better than TIE fighter if it weren't for TIE Fighter's source material.

Quoting: buschapBut I started out with Fallout 1 & 2 and Freespace 1 & 2. (They were heavily or entirely Interplay at the start.) We won’t talk about whether or not I’ve finished any of those four games.
