Shadow Warrior 2 should still be coming to Linux after all, was a miscommunication

Quoting: GuestRepeat after me: "I don't know."

There, was that so hard?

The quote was: "Linux version - no, I don't think so.", so he wasn't really expressing anything with certainty. That's just reverse hype at work.

Colour me not surprised. And excited. I may use this weekend to finally play through the first (well, the remake) one. I only played for about an hour when I first got it.

Valve looking to contract experienced Mesa developers to work on the open source AMD driver for OpenVR

Quoting: GoLBuzzkillI didnt say that and I didnt say anything wrong, why are you defending them?

All that stuff you wrote about Valve is irrelevant to the remark about the 30%. In fact, only one opinion matters, that of the devs that use. And from the few bits I've heard directly from actual developers, they're actually quite pleased with Steam. It's not just the store, there is whole backend that manages versions, alpha and beta branches, and who knows what. If devs stop trying to do all that stuff by themselves because the cost is too much, then Valve must be doing something right.

Quoting: GoLBuzzkillLast 7-8 years Valve only knows how to take 30% from someone elses work.

Bitter much? You think building and maintaining the Steam infrastructure or supplying the 2 terabit/s bandwidth is free?

Quoting: HoriIt's also the base price difference which is a huge problem... 55€ vs 50$ when 50$ = 45,37€ (at today's rate)

Don't forget that dollar prices generally don't include VAT, while Euro prices must include VAT (typically around 20%).

It looks pretty impressive. They chose a more realistic style compared to the cartoony Cities in Motion and Cities: Skylines, which feels better to me. Also, the editing of railroads looks far superior and easier to what I've seen so far. And of course maybe more importantly, it looks like it follows the (Open)TTD style of economy, which makes things more interesting than the purely passenger stuff in CiM2.

If it all pans out, they may have a winner on their hands.

Through the Woods no longer coming to Linux due to platform-specific technology

Quoting: KimyrielleThe amount of devs using Windows-only middleware to develop a game with and still expect it to magically compile in Mac and Linux down the road is really mindblowing.

It doesn't actually say it is middleware. The term used is actually so vague that it screams bullshit bingo at me. Sounds more like an excuse to not have to build and test another two builds during development and wonder about whatever happens afterwards.

Join me and Matt from Feral Interactive tomorrow at 12PM (midday) UTC for some more Dawn of War II

So basically you're now screaming at Feral because you didn't read anything and assumed it is their fault. While it was explained more than once that the stupid original multiplayer code is the sole problem and can't be fixed unless the Windows game is rewritten.

I ran into Evolution ( http://store.steampowered.com/app/291150/ ) at some point. Never tried it, but it seems a bit like Total Annihilation at a first glance. Not the best reviews, although most seem to be about it not working. Anyway, it's free, so it only costs time to try.

In the comments on Steam it says that Vulkan is not supported yet, but looked at for some time in 2017.
