‘The Hive’, a story driven fantasy game that plays like an RTS leaves Early Access, some thoughts

It mirrors the steam reviews. Even the graphics don't look particularly nice to me. So both a waste of money and time.

So this weekend I was exploring the dam. I stepped outside, but soon after a blizzard started and ran to get back inside. No go, one way door. Look for a relatively sheltered space, made a fire and decided to sleep. Huh, no bedroll? A damn, forgot to pick that up inside. No I have to wait with pass time for the blizzard to go. Six hours later, it was gone, but I was exhausted. Which forced me to drop half my gear in order to at least move slowly. Went down, crossed the ice to go back to the entrance. Around the last corner I stand face to face with a wolf. I tried to run, but in my exhausted state I couldn't do anything to fight him off. Died from blood loss.

I love this game! :D

A back to school sale? The irony is strong in this one.

'SOMA' from Frictional Games sales figures released, Linux accounted for around 1.1% of sales

Quoting: dmantioneI don't get your point. A Linux user buying 100 out of 2500 games compared to a Windows user buying 100 out of 8000 games, should still have the effect that those 2500 games should see considerably higher Linux sales than the Linux market share on Steam. Doing the math puts the expected sales at approximately 3.5%.

That only works if the sales are equally spread over the games. Soma is a very popular game in comparison, so it's less likely to gain from less choice.

Tried the demo. Very nice old school JRPG style.

I quickly ran into a few issues, all in the "apple bobbing" part. One time the text overflowed the text box, making the last few words unreadable. And the dog jumping animation was not visible and things like the splash were in the wrong place. Other than that, everything appeared to be fine.

With regard to steam it obviously depends on what they want. The Mac/Linux porters (like Feral, Aspyr, Virtual Programming) on steam are often credited separately and do their support separate from the main publisher. I suppose that still requires some effort on the part of the main publisher.

I do think it would be a good idea to have a pinned thread in the forum to direct people to where they could get the Mac/Linux versions of the game.

Feral probably thought that the release calendar for September could use a few more items.

Anybody know a place to buy extra time?

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI went and read the whole piece, it was oddly interesting. I'm left with just one question: Who are these Factor 5 people?

Factor 5
was an independent-but-exclusive-to-Nintendo studio during the heyday of the Gamecube, and were known for pulling off visuals that considered to push the limits of the hardware. Basically, they had the best technical capabilities outside of Nintendo's own in-house teams, and sometimes they surpassed even them.

Turrican! That's why it sounded familiar.

Dogma: Eternal Night is an in-development vampire MMO that will have Linux support

Graphics are pretty basic right now. For something perpetually dark, it needs a better atmosphere. It's still early days though.

The thing that worries me more is that none if it is screaming "fun" at me. From the descriptions on the site it sounds more like a social media account than a game.

It was pretty obvious that this was coming. The original schedule was just not realistic for indie development. Especially considering the expectations hanging over an Igavania game.
