I don't think they have a good handle on UE4 for other platforms. They were going to do Eurofishing for Mac and Linux. But so far the depots have been unchanged for almost a year with the only public reason that they are having performance issues.

Quoting: Comandante oardoJust like with Tomb Raider and Life is Strange, Feral IS the publisher of the Linux and Mac versions, so they can choose... and they choose DRM...

They still have to answer to the Windows publisher.

Single city/multi city is rather vague. Cities in Motion 2 was technically single city, but nothing stopped anyone from making a two city map.

Quoting: nocriOr maybe I am wrong ;-)

You may not be wrong about whether Vulkan will be used for this port, but I don't agree with your reasoning.

From the posts by Feral on this site, it is clear that maintaining an OpenGL port is quite a bit of work with lots of specific optimisations to satisfy the needs of OpenGL an various platforms. This should be much better with Vulkan. So maintaining Vulkan ports (from DX12 at least) should be cheaper in the long run.

Quoting: MadVillainThis game is made with DX11, so if their engine was not capable of supporting OpenGL at the moment of development (which I really doubt).

It supports PS4. So it has no problem with a very different API. This is about whether the effort of the people who need to do it is more effectively used elsewhere. In other words, money.

Seems like Vulkan is not dismissed from the start...

Indeed. No news yet can go either way. I suppose that in time it will be easier to maintain both a Metal and Vulkan path for DX12 games than it is to do DX11 to OpenGL. But before that is the case, they'll need to have that Vulkan stuff done. Maybe they don't know yet whether they can make that happen in time.

Quoting: MacabreHeartSeeing as it might actually convince others to do Linux ports, like Doom or that new game by the Limbo creators, why exactly would Denuvo coming be a problem? Aside from the obvious dislike of DRM angle that is.

Not all DRM is equal. As I understand it, Denuvo is a pretty terrible one. You're basically tied to their service. If they give up, your game is gone. It's not unthinkable that the next major protection is developed by some other company, leaving Denuvo in the dust with no guarantees about you purchase at all.
