The Steam Hardware Survey for September 2016 shows Linux has grown some more

Quoting: MaCroX95Valve releasing an awesome Linux exclusive would mean only 1 thing... thousands of gamers rushing to install Linux to play a game HL3 for example :D Such thing needs to be done so Windows users would lose their tight grip to 1 OS. But back to reality Valve would never do such thing because they are really the one company that cares about PC gaming and their users opposite to majority of game development companies out there.
While I'm against platform-exclusive games on principle, I wouldn't particularly mind if Half-Life 3 was released on Linux first, say, perhaps a week before releasing to other platforms… :)

Minecraft: The Exploration Update announced, new monsters, new animals and more

I must admit I've mostly stopped following new developments since I'm still on 1.7 (that's where the majority of the modpacks are still), but I like the look of llamas. Fleshing out exploration sounds cool too. ^_^ I wonder if they'll spit, like real llamas…

'Pavilion', the very stylish fourth-person puzzling adventure released with day-1 Linux support
28 September 2016 at 8:32 pm UTC

I was going to rag on them for the term fourth person, but it turns out that's actually (kinda, sorta) a thing.

While I don't think it's my type of game, the art style is really rather beautiful.

Dominate the world in strategy game 'Agenda', now on Linux, here's my review

Sounds like what there needs to be is multiple secret organizations all trying to take over the world, and all trying to expose each other. Then you'd have opponents to fight, while defending yourself from them at the same time.

Classic Flash game 'The Majesty of Colors' is being remastered and will release on Linux
21 September 2016 at 8:19 pm UTC

Oh yeah, I remember playing the Flash version of that years ago. (Though the words "classic" and "Flash game" just refuse to go together in my mind. ) You play as the tentacled monster thing and can interact with the world with your tentacles. At first it's just things like grabbing balloons floating by, but then people show up, and you can choose to play nice or not so nice, leading to different endings. Of course, if you attack, the people will retaliate, till eventually you're swatting down planes coming after you with bombs like the monster in a B-movie.

I think I played it once and found it a mildly interesting experience. I had no idea there was enough interest in it to release it as a standalone game, but then I usually don't pay attention to Flash games.

Linux turns 25 years old! Happy birthday Linux!

I think I'll celebrate by blogging about my experience using Windows 8 recently (for a new job) after having used Linux almost exclusively for the past two years and coming from Windows 7 before that. I'd heard enough about Windows 8 to decide to switch to Linux, but actually using it firsthand…nothing like that feeling you get opening up Chrome to do a simple web search and getting the "Chrome has stopped responding message." Or having "PC Settings" be a separate thing from the Control Panel. Or having the UI be a bunch of flat boxes in bright primary colors—and I like bright colors!

I'm very much a look-on-the-bright-side, accentuate-the-positive type of guy who prefers to win people over by pointing out how good Linux is rather than bashing Windows, but my recent experiences may just lead me to indulge a bit of the annoyance I've been feeling lately.

In Case of Emergency, Release Raptor released into Early Access, yes this is a real game

QuoteThe entire game just makes zero sense. I know games don't have to make sense, but come on.
See also: Pac-man, Tetris, Mario… :P

Paradox have teamed up with a modder to create the Cities: Skylines Art Deco DLC coming soon

Indeed, that's pretty neat. Instead of paid mods, this is what we need, more sponsored mods so you know there's a certain standard of quality.

Paradox also did this with Europa Universalis IV, which has two music DLCs made by a modder named Kairi Blodeuyn.

Master an angry mob in Okhlos, now on Linux with some thoughts thrown in

Ooh, I'll have to check out that music; A Shell in the Pit also did the absolutely ridiculously happy main-menu music for Parkitect.

QuoteOut of 350 reviews 80% are positive, I feel like they must be playing a terribly different game to me.
Maybe they don't all share your irrational hatred of the beautiful color green. :P
