Dawn of War III likely to get no more major updates as it hasn't sold well

Quoting: fractalMy 40k fanatic friend got bored of it within 3 hours and we both played DoW1 and 2 for hundreds of hours. It was a major disappointment for me as well, it's like every decision they made was the opposite of what I wanted from a 40k RTS:
- the art style looked nothing like the content of 40k codices, it's hard to describe, it's like they took the comical heroic proportions of objects in 40k and tried to made them more realistic while keeping the ridiculous gothic look and making everyones faces look like they're made of play dough

This is what I can agree with. The graphics looked like DOTA, HOTS or other MOBA title - comics like. This was heresy in the eyes of the Emperor.
The graphic style of DOW 2 looked pretty good. Even Total War: Warhammer graphic style fitted warhammer universe. DoW 3 looks like being done for kids. It should be more dark and grim to befit the W40k universe.

Quoting: 14I played tons of hours of DoW II and was surprised how much I loved it! I did not buy DoW III based off all the reviews I read explaining the gameplay. I'm still glad I haven't purchased it. That said, I do hope there will be a revival with a DoW IV with cross-platform co-op campaign! :D

I didn't buy it either, I got it from a friend. He bought the Humble Bundle and he was not interested in it. Originally I wanted to buy it when the cost will be really low. I'm glad that I didn't purchased it after I played it.

I bought it only for the campaign. Even that was not good, every mission was like MOBA game on it's own. I hoped for something more like first DOW or second. At least the story was fine.

If they do DOW 4 I hope it will be something more fitting Warhammer 40k universe. Either something like DOW 1 or Total War in Warhammer 40k.

Valve has boosted their Linux ranks by hiring another developer to work on open source graphics

I'm glad to hear this.

Every larger company should support open source.

Windows 10 S might alarm Valve into boosting SteamOS again

I'm glad that I'm not using Windows anymore. I deleted it from my disk when Windows 10 upgrade became available.

If they lock themselves I hope this will be their undoing.

This time I got a popup about the survey. Only one I got this year.

The 'Linux Steam Integration' project from Solus has an updated release with Snap package support

Quoting: ZlopezWhy not using Flatpak instead of snap?

Answer from Ikey Doherty (ufee1dead). :)

Quoting: lucifertdarkWhy not use it as it was intended by Valve & stop messing about with Snap & Flatpack?

The point isn't to bring Steam through snap or flatpak (Steam is already available as a flatpak package), but to bring Steam Linux Integration (SLI) more easily to its potential users outside of Solus (SLI snap works with a Solus base snap, not the Ubuntu core one). :)

This is a good reason, I can take this. I saw, that the Flatpak Steam has still some issues.

The Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III 'Endless War Update' is now on Linux

Quoting: GuestI couldn't even finish single player; third level has a problem of not being able to progress on the level. Hits windows too, so it's a core game code problem.
Official respose for windows users was to wipe local saves and start the game from the beginning.
Even the storyline by then was lacklustre. The sole good thing I can say is that the Vulkan port by Feral runs really well.

...and a Primaris Chaplain? That just seems....odd, if the story should be taken into account. Suppose it's for mutiplayer though, so story can be at any point in the timeline really.

I didn't noticed the Primaris Chaplain. I know they are available for few other chapters, but the Dawn Of War 3 is based on 7th edition and they should be available in 8th.

I tried the Dawn of War 3 on the free weekend and I was really disappointed. I hoped for something similar to the first or second Dawn of War, but this looks more like MOBA game than anything else.

Also the graphics looks like the game is targeted on the younger audience and I don't like this fancy graphics outfit.

I will still buy it for the story, because I want to see how the story will continue after second Dawn of War. But this will be only if the game will be on very high discount. In the meantime I will rather play first or second Dawn of War.

Sci-fi horror 'SOMA' now has an easier mode to give a different experience

Quoting: ZlopezI played Amnesia, is this something similar?
If you want real disgusting fps horror, I advice you to also take a look at the penumbra series.
It's the same sick mindset, but you also get to kill scarcely.
Soma is less sickening, because it lacks the sick mindset. Amnesia and penumbra sometimes made me nauseous as the story was sickening. (Look at the description of torture methods in Amnesia and then realize, this used to be normal practice).

I played penumbra some time ago and it was very good.
