Quoting: Tadas-EstidalUE5 and steamdeck - oof.

I hope they can get it optimized enough yo at least do 30fps stable(60 maybe?)

I already tried few UE5 games on SteamDeck and it handles them without issue. But the battery is usually being drained quickly (about one hour on medium settings and 40 FPS lock).

I'm surprised to see Jim Whitehurst as Interim CEO for Unity. I thought that he currently has some top management function in IBM after being CEO of Red Hat.

I would like to see Aliens: Dark Descent Verified. From what I saw it does work, it just isn't much playable on Steam Deck.

Slay the Princess, or don't - you probably shouldn't but you can play it now

Already have this on my wishlist, pretty excited about it. It doesn't seem like something I already saw before.

Quoting: Philadelphus
Quoting: shadow1w2Glitch wise, how bout the battery levels?
Mine still randomly shuts off at 30% or more and requires retraining, especially if I let it idle in sleep for too long like a day.
Maybe I just need to clean install my os and start fresh.
Battery itself is still operating at full or near full capacity it's just irritating.

Gyro and overall analog configurations wise, I'd like to see more advanced control options.
A lot of these modes dont match what I want and I'd like to set it up raw one to one input sometimes.
For a game that aims where you hold for example or flight games.
Also I might be the only one who wants to tie two flight sticks into one virtual pad.
If only there was a plugin system for crazy stuff.
Hmm, a bad battery cell, perhaps? The Macbook I had for my PhD started doing something similar after a few years: it reported full battery capacity, but would randomly shut off if the battery got down below ~40% or so. From something I read that was suggested as the reason. Basically the battery thinks it's alright but doesn't have the capacity it thinks it does.

Sounds like issue with capacity controller on the battery itself.

Quoting: JarmerI *almost* never buy anything in ea, but this dev is the rare exception. Just bought it and downloading now! They are so talented, and very much looking forward to where this goes. Plus: native linux!

+1 on that, I did back them up on the kickstarter after playing Star Traders and saw how complex their game mechanics are. I didn't get to the EA yet, but plan to soon.

Hm, I didn't saw any of those battery glitches. I'm running latest Steam OS on it. I sometimes had to restart it after being in sleep and recharging for long time, but this didn't happened to me for few months now.

I also see the battery discharging itself normally, no issue with it operating at full or near full capacity.

Maybe reporting those issues would be a good idea.

That is really great, because I knew that some games (Metro Exodus in my case) just don't handle gyro as mouse that great. It actually switches to keyboard + mouse, so the gyro is not usable together with strafing using left stick. This should solve the issue :-)

Unity attempt to clarify new install fees as developers revolt

I don't understand why they just don't go with the same model as Unreal Engine has (maybe they have a new one now, I didn't check for some time) and if the game makes some amount of money, they need to pay from each sold copy. The installs amount seems really strange as a metric.

What a ride, I remember using Steam even on Windows and that's plenty of years ago.

Happy birthday Steam! I hope you will support Linux in future as you do now!
