Some initial thoughts on the Logitech Driving Force G29 Steering Wheel
10 February 2018 at 3:11 am UTC

Quoting: GuestI also have Richard Burns Rally...I don't know if any of the Logitech wheels would work with them, since they are not native games.

Richard Burns Rally holds up beautifully to today's titles in my opinion, and would be the game I'd most be interested in a wheel for after DR. Per WineHQ, people have reported force wheels work, so hopefully we'd be OK.

What's up with the Logitech wheel used market? Used G25s and 27's are far MORE expensive than new G29's!

Quoting: TcheyYep, this one is the "true" successor to Descent, and the best one i've played so far...

Completely agree. Definitely the best of the genre and a terrific action game by any measure, even in its current state. Even its instant action mode is a blast.

Wow, I love this game. It's got it all. This is how I always imagined space combat would really be. So happy this is on Linux...

Ok, based on feedback here, I purchased it and am happy I did. It's VERY atmospheric and spooky at places. The robots have a New Battlestar Galactica intimidation about them. Stealth matters. Nice recoil. Seemingly decent replayability in challenges and such. Haven't tried multiplayer yet (no one online) but I'm enjoying this, and it's definitely worth the $10. I like it better than, say, Ballistic Overkill, which I've never warmed to. Thanks all!

Wow, seriously mixed reviews on Steam on this one, mostly around the slow development pace and limited weapons (which doesn't bother me). I love the idea and look. At $9.99 for a long gestating early access, it's not pricey, but not quite a cheap, "Sure, to support a Linux dev, why not?" For the Linux gamer, what do you all think?

Whoa, an intensity comparison to Rocket League, which is gaming crack cocaine for me... Must try this one too...

BTW, while kudos are flying around, a big "thanks!" to GamingOnLinux for making me aware of the game in the first place. Discoverability is a big deal for games, especially in the space sim area, where most of the oxygen in the room is taken up by ED or SC. I'd bet 80% of those 11% of Linux buyers heard about the game here directly or due a link back here from a post on Reddit...

It's a great game that everyone should get. It's beautiful, with a great flight model and deep mechanics. The sci-fi world they built is also very different from your usual space game, far more in line with the realism of a show like The Expanse than what we usually see.

The addition of a quick-skirmish mode will only make it more enjoyable for every player. You all can see how great the dev has been. It really should be an automatic purchase for the entire Linux community for a game that has the potential to be a space-sim classic.

BTW: The Space Junkie podcast did an interview with the dev that makes for really interesting listening if you're into the space sim genre: https://www.spacegamejunkie.com/podcasts/sgj-podcast-224-helium-rain/
