Nimbatus - The Space Drone Constructor enters Early Access and it's fantastic, you can win a key

Quoting: MayeulCThis game seemed to be pretty interesting to me, when it popped by chance on my steam storefront. Steam says it's similar to other games I've played. Well, I'm (not) surprised. It looks awesome, and well executed. I also love the way "Nimbatus" is pronounced in the video ^^

Unfortunately, there are so many hours in the day, and so many games to play. I'm sure this game would remain unplayed in my library for quite a while if I were to win the key, so it might be of better use to someone else. I certainly remember how difficult it was for me to acquire a game, as a kid ;)

So, I would not like to enter the giveaway :D

Please use #!/usr/bin/env in your scripts ;)

There is no reason to use "env" as per this article. Admittedly, it might help with platform portability to use "env".

I run Linux with Python2 and Python3 installed. This makes it nice and clear which one is being used.

The Steam Play whitelist just had a large update including The Witness and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

The other day, I was going through my Humble unclaimed keys (mainly due to the unclaimed ones being Windows titles). I've been claiming some of the ones that are appealing, and adding them to my Steam account. It'll be pretty cool being able to play many of them (easily) as Proton continues to improve. Also the fact that when they are played it shows up as Linux play is great too.

Some examples of games I claimed:
Rusty Lake: Roots, Domina, Western Press, Westerado: Double Barreled, Sam & Max season 1, Sam & Max season 2, Tower 57, The Sexy Brutale, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Telltale: Texas Hold 'Em, Puzzle Agent, Puzzle Agent 2, Poker Night at the Inventory, Killing Floor 2.

Quite happy that some of those claims turned out to be in the new Valve Supported List.

Meanwhile, I also own those two Wolfenstein titles (TOB, TNO), and I've been twitching to give one a go.

A new Humble Monthly is available with HITMAN, 7 Days to Die and Hollow Knight

I've hit upon the issue that has been happening a fair bit in the past few months, namely a Games Bundle is announced e.g. this one - the November 2018 Monthly - and I already own two of the three games mentioned. Still, I do want the remaining title, Hollow Knight.

It's a similar story with the Overwhelmingly Positive Bundle 2 (already got Nuclear Throne, Soma) leaving 3 semi-appealing Linux titles. And then other bundles, sigh.

Meanwhile, I'm happy with the October Monthly, which is now fully revealed. Here are the titles in it:

Dungeons III (Linux)
American Truck Simulator (Linux)
Hidden Folks (Linux)
Gremlin's Inc (Linux)
We Were Here Too (Linux)
Old Man's Journey (Windows)
Overwatch (Windows)
Wandersong (Windows, humble original)
Ollie and Bollie Outdoor Estate (Windows, humble original)
& Humble Trove access

There are a number of Linux titles there, and amazingly I didn't already own any of them.

Sci-fi single-player survival game Planet Nomads is currently pretty broken on Linux

On reading this, I've just given it a go. I have it on my second gaming box, running Mint Linux 17.3 Cinnamon, and it loaded up and played fine during my little test. Noting that this Debian/Ubuntu-based Linux is not as up-to-date (drivers, kernel) as the one Liam would be using. Another thing I noted - It is a game in Early Access, so I'd be expecting problems come with the territory.

Ashes 2063, an impressive total conversion for Doom II, has released its first episode

Quoting: ageresNo, you don't need to register. Don't you see that big inscription "GO HERE FOR DOWNLOADS" on the mod's page?

Thanks. Sorted now.

Do you know if you need to register on the ZDoom forum in order to be able to download the Mod from there? (Quite tired of all the various sites that insist on registering, before releasing content. I mean, it's not as if they don't have my user agent, OS, ip address.)

If you don't have to register - great - but the Mod is "well hidden".

Transhuman Design has removed the Linux version of BUTCHER due to issues in favour of Steam Play (updated)

Just installed the native Linux version off Steam onto my Debian Buster, Nvidia driver gaming PC and no problems. Game working fine. Played it for 20 minutes. Predicted this same outcome earlier on.

Lovecraftian horror 'Conarium' now has a Linux version on GOG

Did this game come to GOG as a Windows-only title at some earlier point? Or is this a simultaneous Windows/Linux release on GOG?

I'm a buyer of Butcher, on Steam, and I'm not happy about the move. This move 'forces' me to play a game which I paid for the native Linux version as a Windows or Steam Play/Proton version. I probably wouldn't have bought the game, if I'd known this was going to be the outcome.

I feel that there are occasions when Linux gamers on other distributions/setups do experience different issues with games compared to me. Often I hear things like "RUST doesn't work for me" or "Dying Light doesn't work for me" - but they both work fine for *me*, and have done since day one. I suspect that this 'Butcher' game would have worked fine for me (like the person reporting that the GOG version is good for them) had *I* played it on Linux.

Meanwhile, I'm having issues with Steam Play. Again, due to all the different setups and distributions and graphics drivers, I find that some games are not working for me in Steam Play, but seem to work for others.

I think I'd prefer it if there was THIS option from the Butcher developer:

1) Steam Play / Proton is supported platform, and is the default (owing to time constraints and support difficulties).
2) The native Linux version is still available to play, maybe by going into game Properties and choosing a native version from the 'Beta' menu.

Hope this type of thing doesn't become commonplace! -> Dropping the native version.
