I'm running Steam in my living room on a 60" 1080p TV, running KDE Neon.

Well, it's not ideal, but the way I'm currently doing it is this:

Open terminal, and type:

export GDK_SCALE=1
steam

Of course, you could put that in a bash script and use a menu or desktop shortcut instead. Noting that the steam binary is in /usr/games and has been added to the PATH.

Very pleased about the extra content for Dying Light. Yes, it's one of my top favourite games on Linux. Many thanks to Techland for all their work. I own Dying Light with most of the DLC, Dead Island, Dead Island Riptide - Please keep it coming!!

Really like the fluid fighting and parkour movement in Dying Light. The game graphics and animation really wowed me too. Finished the main campaign, and intending to return for much more. I think my character is Legendary Level 5, but I can't be sure without firing it up now.

Not had any problems playing Darkest Dungeon on my Linux rig, although not the latest Nvidia drivers.

Meanwhile, I've spotted a good deal myself:

Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth adventure game is 50% Discount on Steam Store at the moment.

Just recently all the chapters got completed, so it is now the full game. BTW, the book is fantastic.

My use of £799 would be to get a decent FPV headset for drone racing, and a racing drone. Much more fun than VR on a PC.

Also, the Vive Pro is going to need really high end graphics card(s) driving it to avoid motion sickness.

I was actually bothered by the new Steam client. For me, on my 40 inch 4K display it looks ridiculously large at 2x scale. And then, a cursory look around the menus and I couldn't spot a way to reduce it to the original size.

When I got into 4K it was that 1 screen could be massive for gaming and also have the screen estate equivalent to four 20 inch monitors, for productivity. Not to mention avoid Linux gaming issues with the wrong monitor being selected by the game (or smearing across two monitors or whatever).

For me it is absolutely pointless having a 4K monitor sized less than 32 inches. Ideally, my 40 inch would be 50 inch, and then even better screen estate and less squinting with small text.

I'd probably recommend to others - If you want to do gaming at higher resolutions, but don't want to suffer poor frame rates then go for QHD (Quad High Definition) 2560x1440 pixels. It's a good compromise and you can buy cheaper monitors (e.g. 28 inch) for that pixel density.

The Linux version of Depths of Peril is on Steam, though.

And I can attest to that too. Also noting there is a playable demo of "Depths of Peril" on Steam, but only the Windows version (doh!).

Something I'm finding interesting about Rise of the Tomb Raider and Life is Strange: Before the Storm -

Square Enix are currently running Sales on Humble with substantial discounts across most of their games. Now I'm presuming if one bought the game now (and don't activate the Steam key until the Linux version is out), then it would still count as a Windows sale (and Feral lose out).

But also, some of these discounted games are already showing Linux icon on Humble, announcing they are coming to Linux, even though the game is not released on Steam for Linux yet.
