Big fan of AMD. I hope their new processors kick Intel's over-priced ones in the butt.

Serious Sam 3: BFE with the 'Fusion' engine and Vulkan could arrive next month in Beta

I notice quite often that Game Comment Threads seem to get subverted into threads arguing about Steam or GOG or itch.io or completely unrelated material.

Please could commenting about these non-Game things go into a separate Forum post or Article.

Well, I've been playing the "old" OpenGL Serious Sam 3 BFE on GTX 1070 at 4K resolution (and high/ultra settings) and it is playing at a decent FPS for me. Still, won't complain for even better performance. Might play the whole game through AGAIN.

Rencounter, a turn-based roguelike RPG adds Linux support, a quick look

I'm interested in this style of game, but having some difficulty finding "good ones".

I've just bought and started playing "Dungeon Rushers":
https://www.humblebundle.com/store/dungeon-rushers
It's fairly decent, and I've enjoyed the first few hours of play. But, it isn't as good as I'd like it to be. It is a bit too simplistic in how the mechanics work, it is a bit too grindy (think mobile games), and it is a bit too same-y. Early access though, so things have been improving.

I picked up "Overfall" but haven't started looking at that yet. It is another one in the same sort of style. Expecting it to be more engaging than Dungeon Rushers.

HITMAN released for Linux, initial port report and two gameplay videos

Quoting: EgonautThe game runs so poorly, I can't even get stable 40 FPS @1080p on lowest settings. My GTX 970 is at 100% load all the time, it's incredible. And yes, with lowest settings I mean everything on low or off till the game looks awful, still bad performance (SSAA is at 1.0). I have the latest drivers (378.13) installed.

How does Feral recommend a 970 if it can't even handle the game at 60 FPS on lowest settings? And when I look at the Windows recommend settings it says a GTX 770. What has Feral done here to bring my 970 to that load?

I haven't even played more than the tutorial, because it's literally unplayable to me since it gives me headaches when the game stutters that much.

Hi there. This might not apply to you, but some time ago I had a problem with a GTX 960 graphics where the GPU fan was intermittent and at times wasn't working at all. The GPU would heat up to very high temperatures, and then throttle itself back so that the temperature would go down. This card gave gameplay which stuttered a lot. Eventually I replaced the card under warranty and the problem went away.

Advise to take the side off your PC case, and check the GPU fan is working (when you play a game).

Into The Breach, the new strategy game from the makers of FTL will be on Linux

Something similar to FTL - Personally I really like it, but others might not - is "Out There: Omega Edition"

Out There: OE is on Linux and you can get it on Android (and other platforms). [I've got it on both those platforms.]

It is a survival rogue-like space adventure, where you are mostly concerned about managing resources in order to survive. It doesn't have the battles of FTL, but managing your resources and surviving, and maybe completing the game requires similar strategic planning and risk-taking.

BOOM! Bought it from the Feral store. 50% off sale. Showing support for Feral :)
Won't be playing it immediately though, got plenty of other stuff to wade through.

EDIT:

Wonder if "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will be coming in the not so distant future ;)

Bundlestars are doing some decent bundles at the moment, for instance this one:

https://www.bundlestars.com/en/bundle/all-stars-8-bundle

£2.39 for ten games, some pretty decent ones, and 5 of those for Linux. The Neon bundle is okay too.

On Steam, I'd recommend "Toki Tori" puzzler-platformer game (own it, played it) - currently 90% discount = £0.69

http://store.steampowered.com/app/38700/

Also, "BADLAND: GOTY Edition" on Steam is 85% off at £1.34

EDIT:

And *just* spotted Grim Fandango Remastered on GOG at 80% off discount = £1.99
