Quoting: rustybroomhandleHmmm, optimistically if they have 20 people each checking 20 games a day, that's 400 games per day, more or less 8000 per month. They won't even be halfway through by launch. And then they shall re-check all those games with every update in case developers break something or introduce unsupported features.

So… In other words, Valve acknowledges that their "all your library should work" and "no porting required" promises are not feasible.
It is basically WINE's AppDB version 3 (with ProtonDB being version 2).
No matter what others say, I won't believe emulated Windows games will ever run perfectly, especially when they have issues even with newer versions of Windows itself.
"Runs Great With Proton!" Yeah, sure.

It will be named simply "Hero" because Linux binaries do not have an extension. Or, maybe "Hero.x86_64" (if it is a Unity3D), but not ".sh" because the original name is not "Hero.BAT".

In a nutshell, GOG could be ideal for Linux, if CDProjekt wanted to. But it is not (not only from gamer's POV but from developer's as well). So, it is hard to blame developers for staying as far away from GOG as possible.

Quoting: slaapliedjeThis is basically why I think GOG is kind of a failure for Linux users. Wonder if the Steam Deck will finally get GOG to port Galaxy over to Linux, so they can get a slice of that portability pie. If not, at least we have Lutris (which of course doesn't have all the features of Galaxy). To be honest, I think it is not about GOG being not suitable for Linux: they just did not put heart into it. GOG has issues with many things, but the core issue is that CDProjekt thinks gamers are not cunning enough. GOG for gamers and GOG for CDProjekt investors are two completely different entities. In their financial reports CDProjekt never mention "DRM-free" or any proclaimed "GOG principles". This does not sell. Instead there are social integration, Galaxy as a community platform for social activities and attraction of 3rd-party developers no matter the cost (if they want DRM -- fine). This is why GOG does not persuade developers into platform parity or feature parity -- it does not want to break relationships -- and "principles" can not be monetized.

Quoting: slaapliedjeEdit: also wanted to ask, is that a front view of the R-Type ship? Still my favorite shoot 'em up.If you are about my avatar, then no. It is an Aerotank, a twin-cannon + plasma railgun wielding floating military robot from "Phantasy Star II". :)

This is an official decision -- it won't be available on GOG.
Does not mean there will be no support for Linux in the sequel. Just not on GOG, most probably.

Quoting: CyrilStill waiting for the Linux release on GOG.You can stop waiting now. Seriously.
With this bad move, will they support Linux for the sequel? I don't think so...

Surviving Mars: Below and Beyond DLC out with a free update, Surviving Mars free to keep

Previously it was
Now saves are in
So, no more "XDG Base Directory Specification" compliant.
In a nutshell, the update is very bad and is riddled with bugs. I'm glad I saved previous version installers as GOG does not allow to roll back.

UPDATE: The game runs fine if I disable Internet connection. Which means the crash occurs when it tries to "phone home" in order to display Paradox' "Privacy Policy". Maybe other reported errors are also associated with the game's "internet awareness".

The update (GOG version) does not work at all on Fedora 30 for me. It initially launches and even gets to the main menu, but SIGSEGV's a few moments after. On subsequent launches the crash is even earlier -- before the main menu is fully loaded.
The previous version is fine.

"Defendants have sought to exploit a potential market that belongs exclusively to Take-Two"
WUT?
Last time I checked it was an open market not "belonging" to some arbitrary company. Do "defendants" prevent Take-Two from selling its game on other platforms? No. Do they sell the exact same product? No. That's just an entitlement feeling on Take-Two's part, IMO.

"Just Use Proton"++
AFAICA, this translates into "Give us your money while we do nothing to support Linux". Sounds like a plan to me.
