The Frostbite engine apparently has partial Linux support but that doesn’t mean we’ll get ports anytime soon

Quoting: BeamboomGeez, a lot of religious fanatics here.

Thank you, exactly my thoughts. The big boys are very carefully exploring our market and we are burning them immediately at the stake instead of welcoming them with open arms :(

I would definitely buy an EA game if its a game of my taste. No matter of Steam, DRM, always online only, Nvidia closed source only, I don't care what. I wish that people would only want to play some cool games instead of fighting a holy war and hunt for every disbeliever.

To quote myself from https://www.gamingonlinux.com/forum/topic/2904

QuoteStrange indeed. I would still go for F1 2017 since that was just released to Mac.. but I hope that I'm entirely wrong and that I soon have to spend some money for F1 2017 _and_ something very cool I don't know yet :)

The developers of 'Darkwood' have put up a free torrent if you can't afford to buy it

Quoting: TheRiddickHalf the YT gamers support G2A and embed ads to them, the other half think their the spawn of Satan. Honestly you can't win, I will use G2A if I miss a special on something, and from what I have seen most games are fine on G2A its just a few developers that get hit with credit-card fraud and charge backs.

IMO those keys should be forcibly invalidated and then G2A will need to provide a new key, this is doable if you pay via paypal because there are big repercussions if they don't deal with it correctly.

I would guess that deep inside you know that you are not doing the right thing here.
I can't blame the studio's if they are turning their back on Linux if the market is already that small but people are still feeling the need to use questionable sites just to safe a few bucks. Greed is sad :(

PS: But thanks for being honest and letting this discussion happen in the first place.

The Civilization VI "Summer Update" for Linux will not feature cross-platform multiplayer

Quoting: KimyrielleI was about to say "awwww, pooo!", then I suddenly realized I never play Civ in muliplayer. *shrug*

Same here. Cool that it is coming and I'm glad that I had purchased it (as Linux sell of cource ;)). It's a cool game!

The official Twitter account for F1 2017 seems to have let slip info about a Linux version

Quoting: jensCurrently available on Linux it would be Dirt Rally, currently available on all platforms I would say Assetto Corsa.
How about Grid Autosport? Is that any good?

It's not that bad if you prefer fun above realism. It's types of races, cars and tracks are closer to Assetto Corsa but handling, feeling and realism of Assetto Corsa is better imho. Dirt Rally has a feeling and realism like Assetto Corsa but stays in the rally world, thus rally tracks and mostly races against the clock. Note that you actually need a good wheel, Logitech G25 in my case...

agreed best racing game ever we need Dirt 4.

DiRT Rally is best racing game indeed, not so sure about Dirt 4 though, seems like more arcade and with lots of weird stuff and boring tracks.. but still would play ofc :)

Looks like GOG Galaxy won't come to Linux any time soon, as it's "not a priority"

Quoting: Marianotl;dr GOG is not a crusader and Valve is not the devil, both are businesses

Exactly ;)

I agree (based on what I read here, haven't followed myself) their communication could have been better. But being "hostile" is something entirely different.

Quoting: TheRiddickLike I said they are HOSTILE towards Linux, don't know when that will change.

This "If you are not my friend, then you are my enemy" attitude usually serves no one. Why is it so difficult to just accept and respect that different people value different things in life? Really, this is no declaration of war from them. They just decided (most likely after a lot and long of internal discussion as it happens with strategic decisions in companies) that their business is elsewhere. That's all.

Quoting: PitFor my part I'd rather stop gaming. I switched to Linux for freedom some 24 years ago, and I don't need Valve to bring all that vendor-lock-in and DRM crap to my computer again.

I think this is indeed the best conclusion if freedom and only freedom is _the_ important thing for people that are continuously hinting that Valve, publishers, developer studios etc. are rather a threat than a blessing for the Linux market in its current state.

Sorry, you can't have it all. I don't think that you will see AAA games on github anytime soon.
(Unless of course you have the funds to sponsor a studio from your own resources.. ;) )

PS: Please don't take it personally. I'm simply not just very idealistic about what runs on my machine. I don't care about open or closed source or drm as long as it works. I love Linux, it works best for me, but I like the occasional AAA game as well and I'm happy to play by the rules of Valve and related organizations for that. Next to that, Steam is so convenient, one place for buying and keeping you game library sane. Doing otherwise is just so windows-like where you have to constantly update every software separately ;)
