Quoting: dancolemanSimply enter the following in your Steam launch options:

SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland %command%

That's unnecessary now, there is an option in the graphics settings to select X11 or Wayland.

Valve makes a big improvement for Native Linux games in a Steam Beta update

Quoting: PhlebiacI was going to say: "just use the little penguin icon to filter" to "Show only games that run on Linux" as the tooltip says. But... it looks like they broke that? Perhaps related to what you are complaining about.

It's not broken, if you know what it actually does. It does not filter native games, it filters games playable on Linux. And if you have Proton for all titles enabled, then it shows you all games. The tooltip also gives it away, which says "Show only games that run on Linux".

One could argue that the filter should only show native games, but that is a different topic. The functionality has not changed.

After what R* did with GTAV, I will not buy any of their games anymore. You can never know if they will prevent you from playing a Single Player game.

Quotebut they still have a note that the Vulkan version isn't fully supported
Yeah, I should probably remove that text by now :D
The Vulkan renderer in 7D2D is unusable on AMD (RADV) at all. Unless you like to have your VRAM (16GB!) filled in minutes and play then at staggering 12 FPS. I never understood why the Guys at funpimp are unable to get the Vulkan renderer to work properly, other Unity devs manage to get it working fine. But now that it is 1.0, I have no confidence that it will ever work properly in this game. Sad, very sad.

But if they are already unable to get Vulkan working, they should enable EAC for Proton, so we can actually play the game with a proper performance.

DOOM Eternal removed Denuvo and it plays great on Steam Deck

Quoting: GuestTo their credit, they actually removed DRM, unlike most. Positively neutral praise!
Denuvo gets removed from all games eventually, as it is a subscription model. At some point they won't make enough money on the Stores anymore, to satisfy the high subscription prices of Denuvo. Which is the only real positive part about Denuvo.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is Steam Deck Verified and out today

Quoting: F.Ultraexit: just checked the source of wine, proton and vkd3d and there is no implementation of the DirectStorage API whatsoever.
Haven't said they've implemented it, but that it works. I asked some of the Proton Devs if it works and they said:

Quoteshould work fine, Direct Storage has a compute shader based fallback for drivers that dont implement the relevant MetaCommands

Quoting: PenglingAfter all, the specs look pretty reasonable, aside from the massive 75GB of storage that's required for it!
I don't know where that 75GB come from, it only consumes 39GB here.

Quoting: F.UltraSo this being the first game to use DirectStorage 1.2 that all the Windows fanbois are up in arms about so will be interesting to see how loading times will be in WINE/Proton here vs native Windows.

DirectStorage works with Wine/Proton as well. On my PC with a PCIe4 SSD the Portal jumps are pretty seamless. On the Deck not so much. Can take up to 3 seconds.

Quoting: sarmadYeah, I'm interested to see how this performs on the Deck. I doubt it'll be as seamless as it is on PS5.
It runs at pretty stable 30 FPS on lowest settings with FSR. It's playable, if you really want to play it on the Deck.

NVIDIA are teasing something, likely their RTX 40 series GPU (updated)
8 September 2022 at 7:22 pm UTC

Unlikely that Nvidia will announce the 40 series. Two reasons: 1) Jensen Huang said in the investor meeting in August that the 40 series will come next year. 2) Nvidia usually doesn't announce Gaming hardware on the GTC, and they also have an AI Page online for the GTC-

Lutris adds Amazon Games integration, plus Flatpak finally out (good for Steam Deck)
28 August 2022 at 1:00 am UTC Likes: 2

The Amazon integration doesn't work properly yet. The only thing which works, is connecting your account and load the list of games. None of the games can be installed, it just fails with an error on the terminal.

For the time being, I can suggest using the CLI tool Nile, it works great.
