I'd love a remaster of Fallout 3, but beyond that I want them to never touch the franchise ever again. Fallout 4 was an okay FPS, but a trash RPG and a trash Fallout game, it comes off as if they have no respect for the lore and setting and make these games with only goal being to make a Fallout flavored rollercoaster.
What I really need in life is remasters of Fallout 1 and 2, not sure if I would want it to be an FPS... But a realtine combat option like in Tactics would be hugely appreciated. Frankly the main thing I can't stomach about those old games anymore is just the camera and how it moves tile by tile rather than smoothly across the screen, also the camera does not follow the player, there is a key that centers te player on screen and you can use an autoclicker to press that button frequently, but with the tile movement of the camera it's nauseatingpy choppy

Seems like so many tech companies lately are making hair brained greedy decisions, I'm used to them doing that but not so soon ome after another... Is this an effort on the part of the rich sorts to consolidate their wealth before the recession hits hard? If so they need to cut it out, just making things worse like the TP panic buyers. Wait... it was only really worse for those who didn't panic buy.

Kinda been the case since the start when ya think about it.Quake wasn't exactly made to run on a GPU, but a lot of GPUs were made to run Quake. Too oversimplified, but the jist is 3d games came firat and GPUs came in later to run them but better.
When the cutting edge hardware and software development is best as a joint venture.

I hesitate to call Starfield cutting edge though. I mean I saw swf files inside some of the game data archives... Meaning it is likely in some way using Macromedia Flash, or some such derivative.

Funnily enough, I can only get this game working on the Steam Deck. Upgraded to the latest version of Linux Mint with a 6.20 kernel, helped the game launch but it crashes minutes after boot. Can't get it working under Windows 10 as it shows an error of my GPU not reaching minimum spec, but it's a 6700XT with the newest drivers so I think it's because my version of Windows 10, being LTSC, is too old to run Microsoft funded games...
Don't really want to "upgrade" my Windows install, nor do I want to risk bricking my Linux install by tampering with drivers... So I guess I'll just tolerate the smudgy 30 fps look on the Deck until things iron themselves out on the Desktop side.
Shame really, the plan was to Stream it from my Desktop onto the Deck while at home and go full handheld on the go like I was doing with Cyberpunk.

You know, I have a handful of native linux games sitting around that just don't work anymore, and the process of getting them to work is either impossible or more of a headache than just running the windows version via proton. Backwards and cross compatibility has not ever been a focus for the desktop linux, and for pretty good reasons honestly, most of the efforts to future-proof already compiled software packages has... been more of a recent effort.
I don't want linux gaming to become entirely reliant on proton as that still solidifies Windows as the definitive platform, but I don't think that'll really happen. With how things currently are, it's all about increasing market share at any cost, and reducing game devs workload to get their game's running on linux is working to accomplish this. I imagine as market share grows, porting tools will become more refined and engines will continue to keep up or add support, we'll reach a point that native porting to linux for most devs will both be trivial and profitable, if we keep it up hopefully we'll reach a point where they'll be porting games not to linux, but to windows, lol. I think It's important that we somehow completely ensure that software compiled today for linux can still be ran a decade from now, maybe not by default but via some sort of readily available compatibility packages.

I am sort of crossing my fingers that Microsoft bungles up really really bad soon, in some way that even companies reliant on their product will find unforgivable, like a huge price hike or locking users out of their own PC for having internet opinions, something that effects bottom lines more than switching to a new platform.

If the next Steam Deck contained this tech I'd buy it in a heartbeat. The deck is powerful enough that I'm sure I'll be gaming on it for quite a few years, but if they released a smaller lighter and quieter but just as powerful model tomorrow... Yeah, I'd waste my money.

I quite enjoyed that Starship Troopers FPS from... 2006? well "enjoyed" is a bit of a strong word rather I saw immense potential past all the jank and bad design, it did huge swarms on a scale I didnt see again until World War Z. Looks like this'll be a substantially better game, glad, series really deserved a better game than that, maybe a tad sad that it's doesn't seem to be aiming to replicate the swarm size of the movie or 2006 title though.

Well yes everyone has a price but some people don't take cash for one reason or another. Conveniently however cash is quite easy to convert into other forms of extortion for that type of individual.

Losing wine support as an unintended consequence of implementing anti-cheat is one thing, but going out of your way to block wine is... Well, kinda silly. If wine is able to emulate every function the anti-cheat needs to... Block cheating, then there is no reason to block it, and if it can't emulate all the needed functions than the game wouldn't function anyways so it's a non-issue.
I don't know the inner workings or how intention the blocking is, but if they are going out of their way to block wine specific code they are legitimately wasting their time, time that could be spent ensuring minimal wine support.

Only reason to intentionally block it is if you have substantial evidence of cheaters using wine and Linux systems, and I have trouble envisioning that some kid would gothrough such an effort, I have a hard enough time getting my Lil', cousins to remember their darn email passwords or so much as install a program.

Shader cache downloads being a nuisance? Valve may have solved it

They oughta build up options for users to manage their shader cache more readily, be nice to turn it off on a per game basis since so many simpler games do not noticeably benefit from it performance wise. Even just a single button to purge cache for a game or for the entire library would he nice, in case you need to free up space or suspect the cache is causing technical issues.
