Voxel Doom brings voxel goodness to the original DOOM

I wish it were compatible with smooth doom, no matter my load order smooth doom always overwrites voxel doom, leaving me sprite enemies with only a handful of pickups being voxelized.
Maybe I can open up smooth's pk3 file and gut everything but the viewport weapon sprites, as that's all that is needed from it really.

YouTube thought my Steam Deck video was 'harmful and dangerous'

Dangerous to my wallet perhaps. I know I won't use a Steam Deck enough to justify a purchase, but the constant coverage from a plethora of places makes it tantalizing regardless.

This game haunts my dreams, I've been 5 seconds away from unlocking the final difficulty mode for years now, and every time I revisit it I can get just as tantalizingly close to success with just a bit of warmup, yet it just never happens. I've tried caffeine, a good night's rest, hard alcohol, meditation, even adderall one time, and nothing gets me any closer, it feels like a curse. I feel as if this game has shattered my idealism, like it's the distilled evidence that no matter how much effort I put forth some things will forever be out of my reach. I can't become an astronaut, I can't become a world renowned ferret legging player, and I can't effing beat Super Hexagon
The Cities: Skylines - Colossal Collection Bundle is up and an awesome deal

I already had maybe half the DLC and the game, but I went and bought the pack anyways. Anybody want my unused Steam keys? It's a giveaway I guess, one man's trash is another man's treasure. I'll PM the keys to the first taker.
Claimed.

Stanley Parable 2 has a lot of content to chip away at, far more than I was expecting from Stanley Parable 3, every time I thought I was done with Stanley Parable 4 I booted it up again just to find yet another unexplored rabbit hole, Stanley Parable 5 really lives up to its predecessor and I can't wait for Stanley Parable 6!
Godot Engine 4.0 Alpha 1 is out with Vulkan support, rendering overhaul

I've wanted to use this engine for my pet projects for a long time, but my utter ineptitude at programming has always prevented me from doing such. It's annoying when things like RPG Maker and AGS feel so stiffing creatively as a result of the intention restrictions, and yet those restrictions are the only thing keeping them usable to people like me as without them things become nauseatingly abstract.
Wii U emulator Cemu plans to go open source and support Linux
18 January 2022 at 1:33 am UTC
I don't know if it's easier necessarily, no idea of the technical stuff, but Wii U emulation at this point is certainly further along than Switch emulation at this point in time, possibly because its similar enough in architecture to the original Wii and GameCube that a lot of the emulation techniques from Dolphin could be recycled. At least that's my guess.

Quoting: elmapulits kinda worthless since most wiiU games were already ported to switch, some of then received upgrades, and we already have switch emulators on linux.
but it may be good for performance reasons, maybe emulate powerpc is easier than arm?

Still holding my breath for a finished Fallout 1 & 2 reimplementation, those two games desperately need some engine refinements and modern features. The four main features I want out of a reimplementation are: smooth camera movement rather than tile-by-tile, an option for the camera to follow the player, an option to make the whole wall you walk behind transparent rather than the short radius around the player, and an option to play the game with realtime combat like Fallout Tactics.
Now that I think about it I'm essentially asking for Fallout 1 & 2 to be Diablo-fied

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries runs great on Linux with Proton now it's on Steam

I recall the earlier Mechwarrior games being quite repetitive in certain regards, so it must be pretty bad in 5 to be a common critique, or maybe people's expectations have changed.
No wait, I know what the problem likely is. If I had to guess Mechwarrior 5 is probably like a 40ish hour game, a know a lot of modern games have been considering that a minimum play time these days. I don't think any of the earlier Mechwarrior games took any longer than 20 hours to complete at most, and repetitive gameplay would certainty be more tolerable in shorter games.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPIs the game good, though?
From what I heard it is just incredibly repetitive with the worst kind of procedural mission generation.
I'm a big fan of procgen, but when all it does is generate more or less the same mission every time, something went horribly wrong.
Of course, even in that case, it might still be worth it on a sale.

You know something is good when the only complaint you can come up with is that it's a bit short. I did take a break midway through to mentally digest the madness brought on by the new mechanics, but I never got stuck, which is probably a sign the puzzles are fairly intuitive, or that I'm a 4th dimensional entity from the quantum realm, either or.
