Quoting: GuestJust to re-post everything I posted before, excluding the debate on affiliate URLs.

GOG silently added a new method of tracking that is automatically applied if you redeem a freebie. It is hidden behind very slightly different wording and lets them share a unique identifier with advertisers, Google and Facebook, even if you don't have an account with them.

On GOG, under "Subscriptions and communications" (/en/account/settings/subscriptions), there is a new option, "Marketing communications through Trusted Partners’ services". There is a support article regarding this change. Make sure that you untick this if you don't want your data to be treated this way.

Yeah I saw that and was thinking to speak about it too... It's really horrible coming from GOG though.
And to read "Trusted Partners" about "Google ads" and "Meta ads" is a joke seriously... *facepalm*

Quoting: CyrilWhere do you live StoneColdSpider? If that's OK to ask.
I think we're pretty "lucky" in France about this aspect, we don't have data caps, except for mobile ones.

But even if you live in the city and you want unlimited data its 80 dollarydoos per month for 25Mbps speed...... 120-140 Dollarydoos per month if you want the "fastest" 250Mbps And thats IF youve got the Fibre NBN Internet...... If Your out in the bush you are more likely to have the "Wireless NBN"...... And they have a different price structure....... Some IPS are a bit cheaper but they are all around the same price.......

Woah... That's really expensive (as a French)!
Meanwhile in France it's like (roughly, you can have more speed or cheaper etc.) ~40-50€/month, unlimited data and speed of 1Gbps (down)/500Mbps (up) for example...

Quoting: benstor214Yeah, a lot of developers don’t respect your drive size limitations. It’s like most of them are thinking: “Why would our customers install ANY other software besides our game, right? RIGHT?”.
Not only hard drive size limitations but also internet data caps on downloads....... Not everyone has unlimited data plans........ I should know..... Im one of them......

Living out in the rural areas means theres not a lot of internet service providers here and the ones that are here all have data caps.........

Where do you live StoneColdSpider? If that's OK to ask.

Quoting: officerniceOhh nice, did not know this existed. Is it better than running the game via Lutris and the community HD upgrade?
For me: yes! Because it's not just an HD/graphical upgrade, it has a tons of upgrades of gameplay/interface etc (and it's native!).
Running the original game via Lutris will always be the same, there is no update of it.
Meanwhile VCMI is updated frequently and so is better every day!

Sorry, but I'm in love with this project, do what you want from what I'm saying.
Just try it.
That said, I was not using the HD patch when I was playing the game with Wine, but since some releases of VCMI I only play it through it and didn't launch the Wine version since then.

Hmmm.. updates. What kind? As exciting it may sound, I also become sceptical if they mess too much with the original game.

As it's mostly subjective I think the best is that you just try it out.
Even if there are some regressions from time to time (and fixed, like any other software really) in the long term it will be the best way to play Heroes III, IMHO it's already the case as I personally like most of the enhancements.

DevilutionX for classic Diablo and Hellfire now on Flathub

Quoting: gbudnyThat is good news.

However, Freeablo is now a dead project, and I worry about it.
I'm not sure if license issues were sorted out. It's annoying that we had all these Diablo projects and Diablo 2. Now, they are all inactive projects.

Quoting: ElectricPrismIsn't Ubisoft the one where if you don't login for a few months they delete your purchases?
No and no:
* After 4 years of inactivity they send a notice to give you 30 days to cancel the deletion.
* If and only if you've got no game to loose in the process.

Off topic, but happily surprised to see someone here using La Contre-Voie's services!
