Quoting: benjamimgoisLooks like it's compatible, but it also looks like you're basically compiling a new kernel whenever a new release comes out. Since I know next-to-nothing about kernels, I think I'll stick to pre-packaged .deb files from either mainline or Liquonix, unless there are other options out there.

Also, doesn't compiling a kernel take hours?? Maybe I'm missing something that install script just updates your apt cache, but that's not how it's presented, and they go on to talk about having to manage "custom compiled kernels". I'd prefer something that merges into the Mint kernel management tool, like mainline does.

I've never used it on Ubuntu or mint. I agree that have to manualy compile a kernel every week is a no go for me. On Manjaro i just use the Chaotic-AUR, they basically compile the source code of every app hourly and just send me the updated package on pamac.

I didn't know that! You have to have a real trust about it. I don't mind compile my own AUR packages, but it can be useful for some.

Streets of Rage 4 is now officially available for Linux, along with Vulkan support in FNA

As far as I understand, on GOG you are limited to 2-Player online coop, whereas Steam has 4-Player online coop through Steam Remote Play. You might want to take that into consideration...

I'll play mostly, if not exclusively, single-player so it's not an issue for me.

Also the Linux/macOS versions are now available on GOG, but unfortunately no sale...

But I don't see the Sandy Bridge CPU on that affected list.
It start with the 6th generation, am I wrong?

It starts with Sandy Bridge. But that generation had AES-NI instructions only for I5 or above.

OK, thanks, still confusing I think, why not listing properly the affected CPU then?

FPS game engine GZDoom 4.5.0 is out as the first 64bit only release

Quoting: LiamPictured - Aliens: Eradication running on Linux with GZDoom 4.5.0. That's not a game pack I plan to play in a dark room, even during the day it was impressively scary.

I didn't try this game pack, but it's not surprising, I remember playing Alien Trilogy on the PS1 and it was pretty scary too, with a great atmosphere.

AMD reveal RDNA 2 with Radeon RX 6900 XT, Radeon RX 6800 XT, Radeon RX 6800

Quoting: GuestThat is pretty much the question of support. You can try older drivers for older nvidia cards, but using older cards is pointless because they will just waste electricity and barely deliver any performance - that is why companies stop supporting them.

What... Producing new cards is a more waste of electricity than using older cards. In this domain, replacing the components is worse than using older ones. But I assume you care only about your electricity consumption, right?
But you assume that everybody just want to play the big recent games while maintaining great performance, in this case sure it's pointless to use old cards.
Using older cards is pointless for you, because you only seem to care about performance (and features, we know).
Gaming doesn't mean for everybody "AAA gaming", and it's particularly true for Linux users, as other said: we could just stick with Windows.
If someone is happy using an old card because it's just works fine, and one day Nvidia (or other) decide to not support it anymore, it's still an issue. This is a waste, throwing components that still works because people have to buy new ones is nonsense for me...

I read all the thread, and, lunix, what a guy you are.
At GOL we're used to see guys like you, from time to time.

Still waiting for the Linux releases of Vaporum: Lockdown and Blashpemous on GOG.
I'm not confident about the second one though... Liam could you ask The Game Kitchen about it?
