Love love, LOVE the first one. This is great news. Instabuy. Just a bit gutting that I've got another tortuous 6 months to sit through before I can throw money at this...
The Signal From Tölva is the next game from Sir, You Are Being Hunted developers and Linux is likely

I was a bit let down with Sir, but this looks superb. In fact, I think I have to replay Sir, since it was mid-EA when I last played it (and a good reason for why I don't touch EA anymore... you only get one chance to form a first impression, right?).
Hopefully they announce plans.

Given the common theme, I think we have our answer, and I'm with the majority - looks like a lot of us won't touch Early Access.
Been looking forward to playing this though, I was excited by the announcement and it's the kind of game I like. I'll buy on release.

System Shock remake has blasted past the Linux stretch goal, officially coming to Linux
22 July 2016 at 1:26 pm UTC
Well, the quote was clickable, and you can see when you do so that this quote was before the stretch goal for Linux support was made. In other words, he was qualifying the existence of a Linux demo before they had the resources (stretch goal) to meet the requirements to support Linux. It wasn't a disclaimer on how hard it is to test on multiple platforms, despite how it sounds.
I'm afraid that my crowdfunding days are now over, (mainly thanks to Kickstarter refusing to support PayPal/Amazon payments in the UK, but also because I've been stung a few times). However, they will definitely have my money when they launch. This is really awesome news. Now they just have to deliver.

Quoting: mr-eggQuoting: EikeQuoting: SamsaiHopefully they don't suddenly "forget" about Linux during the development process and end up with a massive amount of incompatible Windows-only middleware that destroys all chances of a Linux port in the end.
Fortunately, they are totally aware of this:
[In Unity, building for those platforms can be done with a click of a button, but unless we have the resources to build on those platforms on a regular basis, supporting those platforms will be incredibly difficult. ](http://steamcommunity.com/app/482400/discussions/0/351660338713339416/?ctp=7#c358417008716066949)
Sigh, this again

My kind of game, but I wouldn't touch his games with a barge pole after his comments. 7 Days to Die, ironically, is an excellent substitute. Ironic, because not so long ago, 7 Days to Die was catching a lot of heat from the Linux community (myself included) for not treating their Linux kickstarter promise with enough respect to actually launch the game. They finally launched a few alphas in.
They still prioritise Windows fixes, but they're much more open on their forums and Youtube channel about the work they do to support all platforms. I'm actually looking forward to the A15 release!
I doubt Facepunch could turn around their public image the way the Fun Pimps have.

Been dying to play this. Fingers crossed - I even have some spare money in my wallet after it turned out that Shadowblade didn't play past the chapter select screen - refunded with 2 minutes on the clock.
Kingdom Rush Frontiers coming to Linux after the initial Window launch
18 July 2016 at 10:21 pm UTC
Yep, I'd agree with that. One of the best TD games I've ever played, second only to the awesome Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten (which combines a bit of RPG, so it's not an entirely fair comparison, but still).

Quoting: lvlarkI've only played the free web version of Kingdom Rush over on Kongregate. I've played a bunch of TD games there, this one probably ranks second for me, after Cursed Treasure. One or two wonky bits, but overall it's pretty solid.

Reddit's way worse in the hate subs, but if you're in a "normal" sub, like /r/linux_gaming, it's positively civil compared to the cesspool of ignorance and bigotry that is Steam. We all like a good argument, but the problem with Steam is that the forum admins are emotionally invested in the topics that they moderate.
I'm sure GoL covered a guy... Lapatop69 or something like that... who closed any thread that mentioned Linux with an arbitrary "You should be using Windows, it's better" comment. I'm reasonably certain that if you looked up the word "bigot" in a dictionary, there was a link to this guy's steam profile. Pretty infuriating.
[Edit: Dude's handle was "Laptop65" and he was the moderator for Mad Max.]

I've used/tried most of the hypes/fads out there, but none of them made so dizzyingly spiteful that I didn't have one until I tried a Vive. I want it. I want it now. It's just that good.
This isn't 3D telly, curved telly, wiimotes, 7.1 surround, 4K telly, or anything so crass. Those fads are just enhancements to existing norms. Vive is completely new. Utterly unique. As I sit here typing, I want to go play with it again.
Completely agree with your other points though - and I don't think anyone should suggest that VR/Vive is something you get to enhance everything else out there. It's not about that. It's about delivering something new, something completely unique and nearly-completely immersive.
It would be amazing for racing games, or cockpit space/flight sims. It's amazing at interactive fiction. It'll struggle with strategy. And I can't see how it would enhance FPS game much. Too much movement.
Quoting: GuestVR is one of these completely overhyped things that are likely to vanish really fast. Anyone remembers 3D TV? No? Apparently that was the future, like 5 years ago. Except it apparently wasn't. The larger they hype, the harder they fall.
