New Wasteland 2 RPG Footage And Linux Release Info

Do they own the source code? I guess so, but not the franchise. So they'd have to get EA's permission to open source that. So.... I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Quoting: BumadarSo while Harebrained Schemes is saying:

We have started working on the Linux version of Shadowrun Returns this week. We have our build machine up and running and have started making test builds. It’s still unclear just how much more work is necessary, because the builds are pretty rough in spots. For example, we can create characters, but there are errors when loading into the first apartment scene. The editor is now compiling in Linux, but unfortunately crashes when trying to load scenes. We’re confident we can work through the various Linux-related issues, but it is going to take some time to wrangle them into submission.

We are a month after release and nothing to be seen, while the guys at inXile are saying its no big deal really....

Couldn't agree more. I backed both and it's frustrating to be a month down the line and no support for my platform. And what is a "reasonable timeframe"? <sigh>

When do I get the Linux version of the game?

As we said during the Kickstarter, we will release the Linux version in a reasonable timeframe after launch. We've done a few test builds in house but there are a fair number of issues remaining to be fixed. Rather than delay the entire release of the game to everyone, we're going to focus on the non-Linux platforms first as they have the most support and are the furthest along in development.

Natural Selection 2 Has Officially Smashed Onto Linux

Regarding weird lag affecting aim - it might be worth turning off the Steam overlay. I got that when I used my laptop (which has AMD graphics) on Portal. Turned off the overlay, and everything was snappy again. Worth a try anyway.

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107 [GeForce GTX 650] (rev a1)

with nvidia-313 driver and Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz

I have a Core i7, Nvidia GTX670, so a bit better hardware, but comparable - the game plays perfectly here. Same driver too. What are you running things on - I'm on a 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 install here?

I must say, I'm really surprised at the quality of the graphics. This game is a real stunner.

The Funding Crowd 2^4 (Aug 22nd-27th)

It might just be me, but I tend to steer clear of any Indiegogo projects if they're flexible funding. I just don't trust that platform enough. No worries with Indiegogo if it's normal funding, but not flexible. I think two or three projects in this list failed because of that choice.

Looks great. Much more accessible than Terraria, I reckon, which I really struggled to enjoy. I'd not heard of this one before.

Natural Selection 2 FPS/RTS Will Release On Linux August 30th

Liam, dude, that would be epic. You already have a sales banner, but a countdown side bar or similar would be excellent. Is it doable?

New RPG From Tropico Developers Could Come To Linux
22 August 2013 at 9:46 pm UTC

It just feels like the snowball is reaching that point in the hill where nothing will stop it now. I think icing on the cake would be Portal 2 from Valve. But it sure seems like nearly every developer and their dog has their engine working in linux now.

I'd like to see more support from Unreal, right enough. What's the script with them anyway? A couple of games have been ported (Killing Floor and Dungeon Defenders), but is there no support directly or something? Do U3 games have to be "worked on" more extensively to support linux?

Metro: Last Light Devs Continue Pushing Towards Linux

Quoting: DaifukuI wish they ported 2033. I got it in the last steam sale. Now I am not dual booter anymore xD,

I played 2033 last year when I was gifted it by a mate. It's absolutely superb. Same mate bought the sequel, the one they're talking about bringing to linux in this article, and raved about it. It's very on rails, but a great story, some nice shooting and loads of polish.

As I said before, it's an instant sale for me, the moment it becomes available on Steam for linux.
