I'd have to have a style before I could match my (as yet imaginary) Deck to it. Is "geeky, tight, hairy Scotsman" a style?
I absolutely Love the mahogany effect though. Beautiful.

At least 25 sheets per second!!!

EmuDeck makes emulation on Steam Deck nice and simple

This is incredible. I assumed that I'd be accessing emulation through desktop-mode and a kludgey-hack of Lutris and EmulationStation. But to have all that configured in the background and then show up as Steam collections - amazing.
Goddam, I can't wait to get my hands on a Deck. Is it Q2 yet???

That powerwash sim reminds me of the 2 hours I spent "playing" House Flipper, before I realised I'd be better spending my time actually painting and cleaning my own home. I went through the same thing with Guitar Hero - initially enjoyed it, then realised that the hours I'd have to spend playing it to move on to the next level, I'd be better off learning how to actually play a guitar!
I still can't play Freebird on my actual guitar right enough, but I can crank out some Iron Maiden with a bit of a warm up. And my house is reasonably tidy, so there's that.

First Roguebook, then Across the Obelisk, and now this! We're spoiled for deck-builders right now, it's superb. I bought this and played for an hour or so - really enjoyed it. It reminds me of NeoVerse but without the skimpy outfits - amazing graphics and a really nice 3rd person view for exploring the overworld. It has a really interesting block mechanic too.
My only critisism would be that not much is explained. There's block, barrier and armour and they all do slightly different things, some things end after a turn, others tick down and then you have a special attack no one even tells you about, which is weird. But great atmosphere, lots of promise.

These video tutorials are just superb. There have been loads of times that I've read about software/technology that is probably really cool and useful, but I just couldn't visualise it, so I never bothered to take the time to learn how it works and put it in place.
At a glance, I can see how useful this would be, thanks to the video. And it would be a breeze to get working generally, regardless of the fact it's geared towards showing us the Deck.
Magic work, Liam. Also, "hi" back to Australia! I've only visited once, for my honeymoon, and that was 20 years ago! But I'll never forget that trip - Perth, The Urulu, a couple of days in Cairns (which felt like the Wild West) and on Hamilton Island (which remains the most luxurious place I've visited, ever), then the bulk of our time in Sydney. Amazing place.

Boatswain is a new Stream Deck compatible app for Linux

That's a great idea. I feel like it might be a little unfair, given that Boatswain is only three weeks old (not even a teenager!) and I'll be testing on Plasma, not Gnome, but in terms of how fiddly it is to get streamdeck-ui working, it would make for a nice short comparison.
I'll keep the idea in mind!

I've got a little 15-button Stream Deck and streamdeck-ui works really well, but it's a bit of a faff to get it all working. You have to install it through "python pip" which is fine, but then it installs into ~/.local/bin so you have to add that as a path by editing your .profile, or .bash_profile. Then you have sudoedit a bunch of udev lines to /etc/udev/rules.d. Then you have to create an auto-start entry in whatever DE you use so that your deck launches its config when you start your PC up.
Which is all fine, honestly, given that you only do all that faff once. But I bet it puts people off, so I'm really glad there's a driving force for a better app. Especially the bit about how the author managed to get Boatswain to use SystemD to bypass the need for udev changes... and the fact it'll be a Flathub install.
The StreamDeck-UI app itself is reasonably solid, but its biggest failing is probably a lack of paging - which might be coming to Boatswain (the author talks about "folders"). I'll keep an eye out. I don't mind adding a bunch of gnome libraries for stuff like this, if it's slick.
