Half-Life remake Black Mesa hits over 100,000 Steam reviews to Overwhelmingly Positive
9 February 2024 at 8:51 am UTC

I tried to play Black Mesa couple of years ago and it just kept on crashing. I posted a negative review because of that (to help others on Linux to decide) and people just kept on saying that I should uninstall Linux and use Windows instead. After that I just lost interest to the game.

I still have conflicted feelings if I should try it again. Maybe when it's ready?

I already uninstalled snap version of Steam as it was broken beyond repair. Many games and launchers are broken with it, including all of the Paradox games.

Raspberry Pi 5 announced - still tiny, much more powerful

To be honest, I don't want Pi 5 anymore after getting couple of used Lenovo Tiny i5s for less money than I would have to pay for a Pi. Twice as powerful and with a free case, a power supply and a M.2 drive.

Raspberry Pi attracts me as an inexpensive device; I just bought another Zero 2 for my son's 3D printer.

I bought Baldur's Gate I & II from Fanatical as they still have those for ~3€. I already own most of the other games and I'm not really interested on the extra DLC.

No nordic version yet, though.. I am considering of buying one, but I guess I have to wait for a bit longer it to come to sale in here and with the keyboard layout we use.

Currently we are using MacBook Pro (the last Intel model). It's still good, but I would love to jump to Linux laptop instead of relying on OSX.

Nearly 40% of Linux gamers on Steam are on Steam Deck

After the last update, for me Steam is now totally broken in my computer, fonts are huge and menus do not fit into the space they are given. So yeah, I am not gaming in my Linux desktop for a bit as it also lost all the games due to folder change, which I am not able to fix without tinkering as also the configuration modal is broken. :)

On the other hand, I have no interest to game in my computer right now, I guess.. I just use my Steam deck instead.

If someone else has ran into the scaling issue, please let the rest of us to know how to easily fix it.

The open source NVIDIA Vulkan driver 'NVK' begins to run games

The new open source kernel drivers should help on the effort as it reveals the data structures in the header files. I think it might be one of the reasons why games are now running in the NVK drivers as it should help the devs to figure out things without relying as much on reverse engineering than before.

Proton Hotfix from Valve gets The Witcher 3 next-gen DX12 working on Steam Deck

I tried. It took forever to load into the game. It crashed after a minute of gameplay. I gave up. I will wait...

Does anyone know how to enable raytracing and DLSS in the game? They were grayed out.

Has someone tested what's the current performance difference between a native version and Proton using the same settings?
