Mojang working on new launcher for Minecraft, Linux might not see support

I don't think Microsoft is to blame here, but rather Mojang itself. They have never been very Linux friendly, and the fact that Minecraft works on Linux at all is mostly coincidental. In fact, "PC" as a whole is not really even a priority much any more since most of the work on the Java version is being done by one or two people in the company. Where Microsoft poopoo does come into play is that I believe in time, even the non Windows 10+ versions will stop being cared about. Consoles and their closed store is where they get to sell people skins and crap that "PC" users get for free.

Some Wesnoth trivia for you. Tiy, of Chucklefish/Starbound fame, actually did some sprite work for Wesnoth once upon a time.

Can't be THAT heavily inspired since they don't seem to have that much in common. The seasons changing mechanic is maybe one big one though.

Overlord for Linux release date announced, arriving tomorrow the 21st of July

I guess some here don't know it, but Overlord is a very well-known popular game. It is sort-of an RPG, but not quite. The main gameplay hook has you commanding an army of minions to do your bidding, but not in the way one might command RTS troops. It's more a "point there, attack that" sort of deal. And it thrives on humour with the lead writer being none other than Rhianna Pratchett.

Quoting: GuestSo this game is a third-person action RPG? Is it similar to something better known?

Microsoft is also one of the top contributors to the Linux kernel - so better hop onto BSD if you want to escape. ;)
(it's mostly stuff to aid Linux on their cloud platforms, but still - Microsoft code in the kernel)

Remember kids Unity is part of .Net foundation and it is writen (mostly) in C#, so when you finance Unity games you are financing and spreading Microsoft technologies, good job!

Quoting: wintermuteBacked this on Kickstarter, been looking forward to it for a while. They've been pretty good about updates but, like many crowdfunded projects, haven't mentioned Linux in any of them that I can recall so I feel some trepidation.

Dear Valve and Steam Machines OEMs, you have it all wrong

In order for lower price points on the hardware, Valve will need to give OEMs a cut of software sold through a Steam Machine much like how other console-vendors make their money.
SteamOS/Linux needs more AAA titles though. The big failing point right now from a consumer pov is lack of games, even with the many games available already.
