I also had problems with Proton GE. In order to fix it i had to install steam-native, maybe it can fix your problem as well.

Quoting: BielFPsI'm probably the only guy on earth who can't install Proton GE, for some reason my Steam never detect the plugin.
But it's nice for those who can use it :)

I wouldn't do that, the 5600XT had a very bad launch. You don't know if you will get the card previous vBios or the new one, with higher clocks. Also have in mind that the card only has 6Gig of ram and with the new console generation the vRAM requirements are going to increase, so at least search for an 8 gig card.
If i were you a would wait to see new launches, the card can hold a little longer and also the cpu.
Nvidia also has a new architecture, that will mean that previous generations will drop in price to clear inventory, so you can pick a 5700/2070 with the money of a 5600/2060.

Quoting: keanHow is the driver support? I am planning to upgrade my CPU and GPU (1600 and 1060) to a 3600/3600x and 5600XT. I had issues in the past with my RX 480, but never with the 1060. Would you recommend switching back to AMD?

That's great, I expect to grow with time. Also i find interesting to see on page 4 Metro exodus using Vulkan. I hope it's for a linux port (the other two have a native one), not only for stadia...

If anyone doubts the importance of GNU/Linux and gaming, that they're calling out the explicit ability to run DX titles on "Linux" in Vulkan standards updates shows that the industry most definitely has an interest.

Just put on the launch options of a dx11 game: DXVK_HUD=version %command%
You should see the version on the top left corner.

They should add a button to manually check proton version and also force proton download...
EDIT:
It exists. When you click library you should see on the dropdown menu a section call tools. In there should be four entries for different versions of proton. From here it works like the games on steam. You can check the integrity of the files or just deleted to reinstall it.
