Valve Looks Like It's Removed The SteamOS Icon For Games That Work On Linux, But Not Perfectly On SteamOS

This is great! Valve finally doing som quality assurance on Linux-games. I really hope they apply the same testing to new releases as it has become a necessity to check the community hub on every game on Steam before buying to see if there are any game breaking bugs for the Linux-version.
If they at least check that the game works as intended and don't require any external libraries/software that's roughly half of my problems with Steam-games gone. Would be nice if they tested that Achievements work too, had a few games that did not register achievements in Linux.
Maybe the SteamOS-icon will actually mean that the game works on Linux instead of meaning that the developer thinks it works on Linux. My guess is that they've had som seriously negative feedback with games not working on SteamOS and have finally done something about it with 4 weeks to go until Steam Machines hit retailers, users and reviewers.

Company Of Heroes 2 Launches For Linux On August 27th

Ok, that's a bit unfortunate. Not even Mac/Linux multiplayer? I guess that is one way of solving update-delays but it is in my opinion not a very good one. Kinda wish Relic had ported the game instead, but a Linux-release is better than no Linux release and i'm happy for those who can play Linux-Linux multiplayer.

Quoting: liamdaweI have it confirmed from their PR that multiplayer is Linux-Linux only, so not cross platform online.

This is awesome! Company of Heroes 2 is my favorite RTS of all time. (Played the game in Windows for some 500+ hours)
The only thing i'm worried about are updates and cross platform multiplayer. Relic, the developer of Company of Heroes 2, updates the game frequently and i'm worried that the Mac/Linux-version will not get updates until a couple of weeks after the Windows-version. If that is the case i will not be able to play the linux-version with my friends who run the Windows-version.
Aside from that i'm really glad Feral is porting it, it's a great RTS.

Samorost2, Machinarium Collector's Edition, To The Moon & Botanicula Now On GOG For Linux

Just downloaded the GOG-version of Botanicula and AIR 1.0 is bundled with the game, no separate installation of AIR required, just like the Humble-version.
Had to install 32-bit version of libnss3 to get it running in Ubuntu 15.04, otherwise it seems ok.
Hopefully the Linux-versions of the Amanita games will find their way to Steam.

The OpenGL Successor Is Due To Be Unveiled At GDC

GDC is shaping up to be a really interesting event for Steam OS / Linux gaming. glNext is the next part in getting developers to go cross platform for future games which hopefully means more games for us. Seems like perfect timing to try to steal some of Microsofts DX12-thunder with a API that works everywhere. Would not be suprised to see glNext in Android as a response to Apple's "Metal".
Since EA is onboard i would guess that Mantles days are counted, DICE has been perhaps the biggest proponent for Mantle besides AMD, and if they go glNext...
It's a bit interesting that Valve's strategy for Steam OS, as far as i can tell, is quite different from what Sony and Microsoft are doing. Instead of exclusives and hype they seem to aim make it effortless to port games to Steam OS and then working with partners to gradually grow the platform. I hope we will hear more about Valve's "Plan" from GDC aswell.

This is awesome! Gradually unlocking an extensive back catalog of Windows-games for Linux, DRM-free to boot.
About the chosen distributions, i think the key here is Long Term Support as mentioned in the GOG announcement. Current and future Ubuntu and Mint LTS releases will be supported as fixed targets the same way they support a new Windows or OSX every couple of years.

The Witcher 2 turned up in my Linux-library on Steam today. Seem to be able to download it as well, not sure if it works when downloaded though.
It's a good game and it's great to see it on Linux.

Hopefully this means that they are looking into porting the Frostbite 2-engine to Linux. EA use that engine for a lot of their games and it's already multi-platform.
Frostbite Engine on Wikipedia
I wouldn't say no to Mirror's Edge 2... But that's obviously quite a bit of wishful thinking at the moment.
As for Origin on Linux, i think that would be great. EA has a lot of good games and getting Origin on Linux would mean that they see it as a good business opportunity which might get other companies to jump on the Steam(Linux)-train.

Escape Goat was a nice surprise, a really fun puzzle-platformer. Pre-ordered Escape Goat 2, so hopefully more escaping and goats soon!

Really good games overall in this bundle. Fez and Mark of the Ninja are the standouts for me in this bundle. Heard a lot of good things about both of them.
