So still the same issues with vulkan that have been there for years now - and they just declared it to "stable".
Especially the black screen issue was there since the first time you could try out the vulkan renderer...
On the one hand it's good they support linux at all, on the other hand, the native client is in a sorry state for several years and seems to be treated as a second class...who am i kidding - seventeenth class citizen ever since :/
It worked well with proton, but since EAC got introduced thats no longer an option for realistic and simulator battles...

Quoting: Hopfenmeisterthat's indeed an interesting point!Quoting: Termyi wonder if there really are people using their OS in esperanto
When learning a language, it might be useful to switch the OS language for a while. You already know how everything is labeled in your native tongue, it helps to gradually extend your vocabulary.

Valve dev clarifies what some of their upcoming and recent Linux work is actually for

and thats the good thing in valve not being a stock corporation but privately owned - they can do things that are "right" in the long run instead of only looking at ROI.
And while i'm not really fond of the kernel work being towards DRM, i guess we live in a reality where many people won't boycott things they don't want. So it kinda is another step towards bringing Linux to the needed marketshare...

Quoting: fagnerlnQuoting: rustybroomhandleI still want to know what the mission is with all of this. Not technically, but from a business perspective.
I get it, Linux customers are paying customers, but Valve have contracted several companies, individuals, fulltime employees, contact with GPU vendors etc. This seems like way more financial and time investment than what our meagre 1-2% is worth.
I don't think that it's something big incoming, this is just a signal to Microsoft that's a bad idea to close Windows to their store. Valve have a lot of money, even if it don't recover the investiment, I don't think that's a problem

Quoting: rkfgQuoting: PhiladelphusWish the demo up on Steam wasn't just for Windows. And that Valve would get around to letting you download Windows demos and running them on Proton! The demo works flawlessly on Proton, just click and play really.

i know, thats why i hope that doesn't change in the future ;)
what issues do you have on multiscreen?
i use two screens (of different size) and the only issue i have is that freesync doesn't work with that - and thats no kwin issue ^^

Change it back to the classic task manager its not difficult. Options is always the way to go

Quoting: tmtvlI may give kwin another try but I just know it'll still be EWMH compliant and therefore terrible on multiscreen.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleNot sure if it's the compositor or sddm or what, but for some reason games just feel like they run better on KDE. Have not benchmarked and purely going on feels here.I agree - but only until you try kwin-lowlatency xD

It's a shame you'd have to build your own kernel to get asus/asrock to work...but the project itself is awesome. Even for the folks that just want to turn off the leds ^^
