The game store itch.io is launching a developer jobs board

I really don't get why not more people are buying there. Especially when most of the games include a steam-key, so missing features of the client don't really count...i ALWAYS look if a game is availiabe on itch...

The open source game manager Lutris had another sweet update recently

Quoting: legluondunetFor Gog users, Lutris is now the "Gog Galaxy" client for Linux, just click install, for a Windows or Linux native game, and play. Lutris scripts system are very powerful to do more than just install a game: you can even install patch, write config file, download and install third party components, activate DXVK or override DLL... A must to have for Linux gamers.

i Like the Idea of it, but if i Import one of my GoG-Games, nothing happens...or am i missing something? ^^
For the rest of Lutris, you are absolutely right, it really set a new level of convenience to using wine.
Installed WoW again for the free Weekend - and it now really is less of a hazzle than on windows, as you don't have to go to the website anymore to download the client xD

Deep Rock Galactic, a 1-4 player co-op FPS with a destructible environment works great in Steam Play

I really don't get why they don't just make proton support official if it already runs perfectly...valve even covers the support, so the only thing they have to do is make sure patches don't break proton and collect my money...

Really enjoyed it on the free weekend and would instantly buy it - but not if it can stop working anytime due to not being offical...

Apparently Valve are working with Easy Anti-Cheat to get support in Steam Play (updated: yup)

Quoting: LinuxwarperI think Epic holding Valve back would be bad pr for them. They are already disliked for their anti consumer practices. If they work against Valve they will, hopefully, get much more backlash from PC community.
Valve could, and rightfully so, rub salt into wound that is Epic Store by pointing out how the company has ported Fortnite for so many platforms but neglected Linux, and now they are even stopping progress to make games available for the platform.
It would be disgusting if that actually happens.

it's not like EPIC cared to much about PR in the past weeks/months ;)
But let's hope their neglect of linux is just shortsighted and lazy instead of ill-minded

Quoting: TermyWith this Star Citizen can be installed and played with vanilla wine and has really decent FPS with DXVK - who had thought something like that would happen just a few years ago ^^

I can finally play it!? Woohoo!

It was playable for a while, but in the beginning you had to copy over a installation from windows because the installer didn't work with wine, then there was a regression in 3.20 (so installting on >3.20, playing with <3.20 for the FPS), but now all came together thanks to the work of some really smart people :D
You should check the "Linux User Group" Org, if you're in the verse ;)

I'm kind of baffled that Epic is allowing collaboration with Valve ^^
Glad to hear this though :D

Looks like Easy Anti-Cheat strikes again with Steam Play, Paladins is no longer playable on Linux

Quoting: EhvisThat's simply not possible. Even VMs running a legitimate copy of Windows can be detected. There is software on Windows that simply refuses to run in a VM.

As far as i know that is mainly down to Hardware-IDs.
I know of a few examples that check for the CPU-ID and block accordingly. If you "fake" your KVM to a "real" CPU-ID it works flawlessly.

For the rest, i completely agree with you. It is a real shame that some devs won't even go through the miniscule effort to make sure their DRM/AntiCheat won't block wine/proton after it is reported to them. Devs with this attitude don't deserve our money for sure.

There's some pretty big sales going on right now, here's a look

Quoting: EhvisStill it's *very* gimicky, something I expect from less serious shops. But maybe "loyalty" programs such as this is the new norm

sure, it's gimicky, but the gimicks are a big part of the "real" steam-sales for me, i quite liked them in the past ^^
And it still sometimes shows that valve don't take themselfs too seriously still :)

Darwin Project no longer works in Steam Play, due to Easy Anti-Cheat

Quoting: WendigoAnd this is exactly the reason why I would never buy a Windows game even if it has platinum status for Proton.
There is just no guarantee that the game will still work in a few weeks / months / years and if you get issues in the future you are left in the rain since the game was never made to be run on Linux.

Was about to write the exact same.
I'm really thankfull for proton for playing old games or games that i got in a bundle (and that the devs see it as a linux-"sale"), but i won't buy a not officially supported game for more than a few bucks...
