Elteria Adventures, an open-world RPG MMO plans Linux support and it looks very interesting

Wishlisted, but it looks a bit too cartoony (or Fortnitey :S: ) so not sure if I'm honestly interested. We'll see.

The developer of the space combat sim 'Evolvation' has confirmed their intention to continue supporting Linux

"Evolvation is already in your Steam library"
But... how?

Nvm, doubly good news then I guess!

Could this be the solution to the launcher madness?

Psebay, the atmospheric moto trials adventure is now available on Linux, may need a quick curl fix

Quoting: activate2010...replacing username with $USERNAME or $USER ? That way it just 'works' when copied and pasted.
Just remember to drop the quotes if you do, or use ~/ instead of /home/username/. Plenty ways to skin this cat.
BTW multiple entries to LD_LIBRARY_PATH must be colon-separated.

Psebay, the atmospheric moto trials adventure is now available on Linux, may need a quick curl fix

Amusing story behind the problem... (someone yell at me if I'm misunderstanding the history and summarizing incorrectly)

Programs may assume libcurl is built against openssl but some distributions build against gnutls. Trying to call openssl functions will then fail and it looks like libcurl is to blame. :)

The reason for going with gnutls may be that OpenSSL's license is not compatible with the GPL. idk :P

Pre-loading the steam-runtime directories lets the game use the older library versions Valve graciously ships with Steam. We should let the developers know about this so it can be fixed. This damn issue keep popping up every now and then, it's 2019 now dag nabbit!

The latest update on Black Mesa shows some impressive improvements coming to this Half-Life recreation

I don't mind it taking a long time to finish. Did you guys play Half-life back in the day? Remember how awesome it was? Remember how much the original ending level sucked? This new Zen level is almost a whole entire game in itself by now. ;)

God damnit. I wanted this game to make it!
However, I didn't back it... because I barely ever back anything.

Maybe I'm jaded by all the broken 'promises' and butthurt by all the pathetic "apologies".

Maybe I need a proven track record before I spend any of my money on eventual Linux releases, especially from developers who don't normally release games for Linux.

Maybe I'd be content with chucking money towards a Linux friendly dev simply because they care about our preferred operating system.

Maybe these crowdfunding shenanigans are simply 90% hustlers who profit on our innate proclivity to wish for things, and the remaining 10% actually get products to market.

I'll just leave this little snippet from one of my all-time favorite fantasy series The Sword Of Truth by Terry Goodkind. It's worth thinking about. BTW, the TV show was pure excrement, do NOT watch it. Read the magnificently brutal books!

This is the Wizard's First Rule:
Quote“People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.” -- Zedd

Instant crash here too. Launching the game in terminal with Steam client running, 1st error:
[S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; no appID found.
Either launch the game from Steam, or put the file steam_appid.txt containing the correct appID in your game folder.
[SteamWrapper] SteamAPI is not initialised.
[SteamWrapper] Failed to launch game through Steam.

Added steam_appid.txt to the game folder. 2nd error:
Initialising SDL Audio:
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1099:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
FATAL ERROR : Failed to open audio output device: "ALSA: Couldn't open audio device: No such file or directory"
Failed to open audio output device: "ALSA: Couldn't open audio device: No such file or directory"./PrisonArchitect: line 59: 11083 Aborted                 "$base"/PrisonArchitect.x86_64 "$@"

The solution: Change line 52 in the file .../Steam/steamapps/common/Prison Architect/PrisonArchitect to use PulseAudio instead.
export SDL_AUDIODRIVER=PulseAudio

Works for me.
