The work from the Solus developers to get their Linux Steam Integration as a Snap is coming along

Sorry for Offtopic reply.

Optimus do work on Solus. However if you have latest and greatest Pascal setup then it needs some extra tricks... "nomodeset" on kernel line for install and first boot. After you have updated Solus to latest and installed Proprietary Nvidia drivers then stuff is smooth as baby bottom.

However. If you looking Bumblebee kind of dynamic switching or Windows like dynamic Optimus behavior then you will disappoint, that is not yet in place. Also "Screen Tearing" is there as Solus has Xorg 18.4 still... PrimeSync needs at least Xorg 1.19.x to work.

Good news is that Linux Badass Ikey has now Optimus Pascal laptop for himself and the amount of swear words in IRC we hear I suppose that he loves Optimus and it will be properly fixed in no time. Perhaps we soon even enjoy some dynamic switching... I personally bit doubt of that. :)

What comes to Steam I think Solus is on same level with Ubuntu on supported games without extra fixing... some cases even better. So for Gaming I would pick Solus as number one Distro!
Thanks for the info. I will keep an eye on this. Unfortunately screen tearing is a deal breaker for me, however when that is fixed i'll definitely give Solus a try.

Quoting: Guy FawkesThere is a petition floating about in web to officially call Ikey Doherty a "Linux Badass" everytime he's referenced.

Boy has he done some service for Linux in general already!

Aha I saw that, hella awkward xD Thanks bud! :)

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoAnyone know if Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth work properly?
I have played it 4-5 months ago with wine-staging, though i don't remember witch version it was. It run perfect, only problem i had was imput lag but that was probably because of my system not wine, i am using an optimus laptop with bumblebee. So it should work i reckon.

Quoting: JuliusAnyone managed to install the 32bit version via PlayOnLinux? It works for 64bit, but for 32bit it complaints that the file could not be found, even though it shows up in the selection just fine.
I did install it yesterday without any issue. Might be a temporary server issue or something.

Seems nice. Can we run programs and games with "primusrun" or "optirun", if so how?

Sort-of. If you use the "Programs" page to create a Desktop launcher, you can put a shell one-liner in the "Command" entry, so instead of just the path to the Windows executable, you can use something like "sh -c 'optirun $WINE whatever was originally in the entry field'" and Vineyard will run the command with the proper environment variables set.

Thanks. I installed the program from testing repo but unfortunately vineyard settings does not work properly for me. I cannot create a new prefix. Dialog says it is creating the prefix for a while and disappears but there is no prefix but default and drop down for selecting prefix is greyed out. Also most of the settings that I change goes back to default when I restart the app such as windows version. Anyway this app has so much potential, I wish you the best.

Oh, yikes. Could I get you to submit a bug report on GitHub for this with the terminal output included?

Ok, I created a new issue entry on github, hope that helps.

Quoting: CybolicSince there are several comments about the difficulties in setting up Wine prefixes, I'll just do a quick plug for my own little Wine management tool, Vineyard. With that installed, you can just double click a Windows executable, select which existing prefix to use or select "New prefix" (and if needed, select the Windows version to emulate, the virtual desktop size to use and which Winetricks packages to install) and click run; easy-peasy. It also comes with an indicator showing the running Wine applications (if they're launched through Vineyard) so you can check their output and it'll automatically suggest which Winetricks packages you might need to install based on the error messages.
