Question to experts. How can one test winesync? I need just upstream Wine with winesync patches applied. Nothing extra like all the -tkg patchsets and etc.

It helps all games that use DX9-11 but specifically Apex Legends, Warframe and possibly new AAA releases.

I see. Does it give better framerate or less stutter or something else?

(Seriously though, GPL is awesome, it really does help performance. I've been using it for a few months already by default and the improvement is noticeable on an RX 6700 XT)

Which games does it help? I didn't particularly notice any major changes from it. But I also didn't play that many lately.

How goes your quest for getting the RDNA 3 card Liam? There doesn't seem to be any shortages of them at present. Mesa has pretty good support for RDNA 3 now too.

Quoting: denyasisAnd while I do enjoy the ease of Steam, if we are being fair, it's never been easier to play a game on Linux, even if there is some setup required for a GOG game. It's still practically click and play!

I agree! In the past Wine required a lot of fiddling to make games playable. Now very rarely anything is needed bedsides enabling dxvk/vkd3d-proton in the prefix.

The only other major feature that's useful is esync / fsync. I build Wine + esync patches from Wine staging for that. It helps performance of CP2077 and some other games quite a lot. Hopefully winesync solution will be upstreamed to avoid extra steps.

Quoting: on_en_a_grosMy biggest problem with gog are the saves, I lost my progress in wasteland 3, art of rally and hellpoint because the copy and paste for save files is not working.
I didn't buy or play any gog games after losing my wasteland late game save, Despite my preference for store / only gaming focus experience they offer.

Yeah, I back up my saves myself as well.

I made my own script framework for launching GOG games (both Wine and native), so they are pretty easy to use most of the time, once some commonly necessary things like dxvk and vkd3d-prton are provided. lgogdownloader helps with incremental updates for them using Galaxy protocol.

More active official Linux support from them would be good of course, but they are consistently the biggest DRM-free gaming store, so I don't mind buying games from them and handling set up on Linux myself.

Stats update is out. Nice to see AMD GPU usage percentage continuing to rise.

What's interesting is that so many still have 60 Hz / no adaptive sync monitors. It's 46% for 60 Hz and 64% for no VRR. Kind of surprising, since higher refresh rate and adaptive sync are such major aspects that improve gaming and they are pretty widely available today.

Does anyone experience games hanging when monitor goes to sleep in recent iterations of Wine + dxvk / vkd3d-proton? It must be some regression somewhere, but not sure where exactly.

It happens with Cyberpunk 2077 and Everspace 2 for example.
