Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered pops up on Amazon, has a Tux on the cover
24 January 2015 at 6:14 pm UTC

Quoting: abelthorneWhen has Amazon "lied" in the past exactly? From what I remember, they listed Linux versions for XCOM & Civilization V way before they were released on Linux but they eventually came out.
I believe Microsoft Flight Simulator popped up on Amazon as a Linux game a while back along with a couple of other games that have yet to see a Linux port.

Quoting: Sojiro84Maybe you had the same issue as me. I just converted to Linux and had a few problems with some games just having 30 fps or stuttering like a mad-man.

Seems that enabling vsync in games destroys your framerate or causes stuttering.

I also had this game and had at max 30 fps. When I disabled vsync i got 100+ fps.

I also had this with the Talos principle I bought yesterday. Also 30 fps there and I am sure my rig is plenty powerful enough for more fps. So I decided to check if vsync was on. It was, so I turned it off and bam, 60+ fps and then went back to other games and turning off vsync improved my fps there as well.

I might not have said is enough so,

tl;dr, vsync off = iwin.
Sadly, this is not the case. When I encountered these issues I immediately went to the settings menu to check if vsync was enabled. With Talos I also had to disable vsync but here it didn't help.

You could say the Linux version of C4 just... blew up.

*Hides from the pun police.*

Audiosurf 2 Released For Linux, Our Thoughts, It Rocks

Quoting: SeredThe DMCA take down notices are being produced automatically, are they not?
In this case it was an automatic content ID claim. Only thing that does is occasionally block the video in some countries and redirect the ad revenue to the content holder. There is a chance they might affect our standing on YouTube though, so we try to be extra careful with them.

GOG's Installer Encryption Proving to be Difficult for Linux Users

Quoting: neffoThis all seems like a confected outrage. This isn't DRM. And by all accounts it's a trivial matter to bypass. (Why wasn't this mentioned in the post?)

By the sounds of it, this would work:

GAMENAME=neverwinter_nights_diamond_edition

GAMEID=`curl -s -o- http://www.gog.com/game/$GAMENAME | pcregrep --buffer-size 1M -o1 "addToCart\('/cart/add/(\d+)'\)"`

unrar x p`echo $GAMEID | md5sum | cut -d ' ' -f 1` $FILE
I might have overlooked that bit when I went through the forum thread. Based on the messages I read and the tip that was given to us I got the impression that the password wasn't general knowledge.

Natural Selection 2 FPS Has A Major Update, Fixes Major Linux Crash Bug
29 December 2014 at 10:47 am UTC

Instead of crashing when firing the shotgun, the game now crashes when firing the assault rifle. Can't say I'm impressed.

Quoting: LK901How powerful a rig do you need? :P
I guess clarifying my specs would be a good idea to do. :P

I can't max it out on my Intel i5 2500k @ 3.33 GHz + GTX 760 machine without frequent frame drops. After dropping everything down to High from Ultra I can maintain a mostly solid 60 FPS experience with occasional drops to 30.

Interstellar Marines Update 16 “Assault On Starcrown Aerospace” Is Live
17 December 2014 at 9:00 pm UTC

Quoting: ElectricPrismHow do players like this game compared against CoD & Halo? I've been wanting a good PC FPS for a while but CS:S and CS:GO didn't have the Halo feel, the closest I found was Section 8: Prejudice but unfortunately its Windows only and the Devs abandoned it.

Hows Interstellar Marines?
This is nothing like Halo, at least the only Halo I've played which was Halo: Combat Evolved. This is more of a CS-style FPS with heavy focus on tactics. You are very vulnerable, can't make high jumps and you have to cooperate with your team in order to succeed. Going guns blazing like in Halo is only going to get you killed.

Speculation: BioShock Infinite Might Be an eON port
8 December 2014 at 7:11 pm UTC Likes: 2

Quoting: afettouhiBioshock Infinite is a DirectX11 game and as far as I know eON only supports DX9. So that seems rather unlikely that the port uses eON technology.
As it happens, person also mentioned that they were in fact working on making eON compatible with DX10 and DX11. We don't know if that functionality is yet in place, but they've at very least thought about it and experimented with it.

Edit: This happened months ago on the IRC channel.

7 Days To Die, A Sandbox Zombie Survival Game Finally Arrives On Linux

Quoting: valczirJust out of curiosity, am I wrong for reacting to this news with, "Do we care? A-Are we caring about that?"

I have so little respect for this studio, by now, that I don't think I would buy their game even if it were the next Dark Souls.
Well, not really. My initial reaction to this was "That's not possible." which then turned into "Meh. No more 7DTD jokes on the IRC then, I guess.".
