New SOMA Horror Game Trailer From Frictional Games

Quoting: Quote from stanNot excited at all because Penumbra Overture is unplayable due to poor mouse handling (I have to set the acceleration option to the max and then the pointer moves way too fast in the menu (and faster horizontaly than verticaly), but ingame rotations are still too slow). Also the graphics are completely bugged on my Core i3 Intel HD Graphics, and there is no alt-tab.

I also got Amnesia and don’t remember what the problems were, but I couldn’t play it either. (Looks like I deleted the files for this one.)

Maybe if they used SDL2 this time it will be playable… I’m definitely not buying it without trying a demo first!
I've played some Amnesia on my Intel HD Graphics 3000 laptop and it ran perfectly with a decent framerate. I haven't played any Penumbra games on the laptop, but on my main rig Black Plague runs without hitches.

Activision Is Blocking A Game Coming Over To Linux UPDATED

I've hated them ever since I heard they destroyed Sierra Entertainment back in 2008.

Quoting: Quote from Half-ShotEveryone has their reasons why they can't "switch" to Linux but one of the more prominent ones is that Linux isn't getting you as much value for money for your hardware.
Uh, what?

I switched to Linux in 2002, and haven't looked back. I had no valid reason to keep Windows around. And in the decade+ since then, I have squeezed FAR more life out of my hardware by running Linux than Windows ever could have given. I only upgraded minimally, typically due to failure (one motherboard, two HDDs) or simply want (more HDD space, or more RAM).

I haven't had an issue with printers or scanners I've bought over the years from Epson, Agfa, or HP. I have a Wacom tablet that I use from time to time. Canon Rebel DSLR camera. Logitech gamepad and Harmony programmable universal remote. All work fine out of the box, plug-n-play, outside of [easily] installing a program to actually use a few devices (like SimpleScan, DarkTable, or Congruity). That's FAR better "value" to me, considering how much of my own time I used to waste trying to get devices working, drivers and bloatware, rebooting, etc. on Windows. All the hardware I've got works just fine, but then again, I don't go around buying random shitty gear that I really don't need from obscure companies nobody's ever heard of.

Sounds to me like people make up excuses and waste their money on low-quality trash, which in turns forces them to stick with likewise for their operating system.
It's common knowledge that AMD's cards are crappy on Linux. I have a friend that tried to switch to Linux, but all his games were running with sub-par framerates and had frequent FPS drops. This has also been verified on comparative benchmarks between Linux and Windows drivers. Luckily Nvidia doesn't have these issues anymore and performance is nearly identical on both systems.

OpenMW V0.27.0 Released And A Sneak Peek On OpenCS

Quoting: Quote from liamdaweYes I think the titles for their news articles need adjusting in future to say OpenMorrowind for a start, some people are getting confused.
There might be some problems with that, considering Morrowind is Bethesda's game and they are known to have tried to sue Mojang for naming their game Scrolls. It's silly, but that's just how big companies work these days.

GOL Cast: Exploring Lovecraftian Dungeons in Eldritch

Quoting: Quote from scaineNice one, Samsai. I just coughed for Delver yesterday and it's a similar title. I might have to go for this one too. It looks a little more polished than the Early Access one I bought!
I might check Delver later and see how they compare to each other, but at least this one's currently in my top games. I just need to play it a bit more.

The Wine Maintenance Release 1.6.1 Is Now Available

Quoting: Quote from liamdaweI am always impressed at just how far Wine has come, it's insane to think they can do this without documentation from MS.
And it's getting better and better really fast. I remember few years back most of my games were unplayable, but nowadays I have a ton of them working with decent framerates and next to none visual glitches. Good job Wine team!

The audio seems out of sync this time
Yup, just noticed that too. I am not exactly sure why it desynced, but luckily it's a rather minor one this time. SimpleScreenRecorder complained about memory alignment problems during recording, but usually those don't affect anything. Hopefully we will not experience more of these.

Quoting: Quote from SabunGreat video, I was really shocked when I found out it was released! I was expecting it sometime next year haha :D

Quoting: Quote(Yes, I am looking at you Sabun and Xpander.)
Hehe, hope I can do something of the sort. I'm sure Xpander can :)
Your recording is definitely smoother than mine, but it could be because I'm using the 319 drivers which are a bit dated. Guess I should grab the 331 Beta drivers and game on!

I hope more people will post Linux gaming videos, so we can get word of mouth out faster!
I am also using 319 and my graphics cards is inferior to yours, so your recording should actually be smoother than mine... Maybe you have something wrong with your recorder or something?

Anyways, having more Linux youtubers is really important and I like to help the newcomers whenever I see them. Luckily Liam has some interesting plans that he will eventually try to implement on GOL that should help the Linux youtubers in general to extend their audience faster.

Quoting: Quote from fabertaweSamsai - how did you get the fps counter in the corner? I've tried looking for info on this but have turned up a blank.

Thanks.
Xpander actually made a nice video about that in which he also showed how you can change the FOV. You should probably check it out:

Metro: Last Light Released for Linux on Steam

If it's okay for you, I'd like to have the further DRM debate on a forum thread dedicated to it, because I feel we are moving away from the original topic too much. If you have opinions about DRM you would like to share, please post them onto this thread: http://www.gamingonlinux.com/forum/topic/456.

Metro: Last Light Released for Linux on Steam

Yeah sure, having awesome games on Linux is most certainly bad news for Linux...
I understand that DRM is not a good thing, but DRM-free or not, having these games on Linux _is_ good news, either directly or indirectly.

I would like you to read this part of their Linux release announcement:
Quote4A Games and AMD are working together on improving performance on Linux and waiting for updated drivers from the graphics card manufacturer.
http://steamcommunity.com/games/MetroVideoGame/announcements/detail/1841138399631172025

That means improved graphics performance on AMD, which at the moment is fairly horrible. If this isn't good news for Linux, then I'm fairly sure nothing is.
