Red Orchestra 2 And Tripwire's Future Titles To Come To Linux
1 October 2013 at 3:27 pm UTC
I understand not wanting DRM, but this Steam-hate is almost ridiculous, because I think we can honestly say Valve pretty much made Linux gaming a thing. Luckily the game selection has also grown outside of Steam too, so people that avoid Steam like plague will get the indie stuff that's floating around in Humble Store for example, but they will most likely miss all the great AAA titles that are coming to Linux.

QuoteNot amazingly on topic anymore, but I guess that if there's one negative here it is for the Steam-haters. There exists the potential that future games don't support "linux" but do support "SteamOS". At that point, the developer is only distributing his game through Steam and not really making it natively available to all distros.

I like the idea of a less toxic MOBA. So far the only MOBA like that has been Awesomenauts which isn't exactly like a traditional MOBA. :P

QuoteVery good video article, what are your hardware specs Samsai?I have an Intel i5 2500k processor (3.3 GHz), Nvidia GTX 550 Ti and 8 gigabytes of RAM. This rig has worked really well so far.
QuoteIt's really simple, you just click the "Submit Article" button on the right side of the website above the Twitter feed and below the Editor's Picks/Popular This Week. This brings you to the article editor, in which you can add your text, images, links and videos. When you are happy with your article, click the "Submit For Review" button on the bottom of the page and eventually an editor (Liam, me or someone else) quickly checks the article and, if it's all good, publishes it. The requirements aren't really that high and all the important things are written on the article editor page.Quoting: Quoteyou can use our article submission system to post your videos for others to see here on GOLI didn't know about this. How does this work?

Quoting: HmmSSR can get users banned! as it injects!Only if you use the experimental direct OpenGL capturing. The normal recording mode doesn't access the buffer directly, so it won't be detected as a cheat. And if the normal recording would be detected as a cheat, I would already be VAC banned on Steam, because I've done huge amounts of videos with SSR.
Steam for Linux Is a little messed up, here's the temporary fix!

It seems that Valve has fixed the bug now, so the quick fix is no longer required. The developers had following to say about it:

I tested this myself and I no longer have trouble with it so Steam for Linux is back to full operations.

Quoting: FutureSutureOur friend GTux installed a bunch of games on Steam without a hitch, but it seems few games are uninstallable and I heard some people had problems installing their games, so I threw that warning there (don't want to get flamed and blamed). The games that are already installed remain unaffected. But playing it safe until a proper fix might still be a good idea.Quoting: Quote from SamsaiEdit: Removing the appcache actually might affect installing games on Steam, but we have mixed results about that. After reading that, I decided not to apply this fix just yet. I am way too risk averse for that!

Quoting: IvancilloThis subject reminds me some things TheEnigmaticT said the other day here in GOL.This can be compared to broken compatibility to some extent, though the issue itself is probably a programmer error somewhere, but it really shows how the Linux community works when problems arise: some people figure out a fix for the problem and tell about it to others, who in turn spread the word exponentially throughout the whole community.
About breaking compatibility as the systems upgrades.
Seems that he was/is right at this point. (Why this issue appeared with just no modification of the program? : cause the modification of the host OS (upgrades) ).
But in the other hand ... Yes, it happened, but it's not so terrific like he explained to us.
People reacted inmediatly to support users just the problem appeared.
And the issue is solutionated. No casualities, no need to refund to anyone. Not so terrific.
We Linux users are used to manage program issues as a normal thing.

If so what recorder program are you using? ThanksI am using SimpleScreenRecorder to record the game and Audacity to record the commentary. Then I just sync the tracks in OpenShot so that the video has both the audio from the game and the audio from my mic.
I checked their F.A.Q and it seems that it is planned.
Mac and Linux are planned in the future once OBS has reached a more finalised state feature wise.
