The sci-fi mystery game 'The Station' sold around 15% on Linux with low overall Steam sales

I read it as 15% of total sales being Linux (3,000 copies) and 25% of total sales being on Steam (5,000 copies), which are mighty impressive numbers (60% being Linux sales).
Guess it depends on whether one reads "about 15% of our players so far have been Linux users on Steam!" as written or as "on Steam, about 15% of our players so far have been Linux users!" - can't say for sure which one they really meant.

Quoting: liamdaweThey responded further, with 75% of sales actually being on console.
So Linux is 15% of 25% of 20,000. So the Linux percentage was good, but that does mean it sold poorly on Steam. Will issue an update when i'm at my PC.

Microsoft acquires GitHub for some loose change

The most logical speculation I've heard as to why on earth Microsoft would want GitHub is the idea that they might link it to their other recent acquisition, LinkedIn. Doing so would let them compete with the more programmer-focused job sites out there.
I'm not sure whether I'll start migrating my projects just yet, but new ones are likely going on GitLab.

Quoting: ObsidianBlk[...] Valve hasn't done much better, with the exception that they never actually promised Linux would have the VR (or did they?). [...]Oh they did; there was mention of Linux support right on the actual purchase page. It was pretty clearly false advertisement when it came out.

Controller support is ... flaky, it seems. I've seen reports of it working, but I can only get my Steam Controller to work with the game if I set it up to emulate a keyboard - which is absolutely necessary if you're on a keyboard layout that doesn't have X and C near each other, such as Dvorak; rebinding the keys is not possible in the game.
There's also no support for ultra wide monitors, the game will instead cut off the top and bottom of the display.
Also, if you're using a screen modeline that contains anything other than "XxY" (such as "_100" on the end - mine was "3440x1440_100.00" ), the game will fail to launch.
In short, it's a great little game, very pretty, very fun, but it might be worth waiting for an update or two before purchasing it.

A Linux beta build of Solstice Chronicles: MIA may come soon

Ooh! I did not know that the source was freely available! I spent an awful amount of time trying to wrap the existing executables in something that would work with a modern installation of PulseAudio, Glib, etc, without much luck. Truth be told, I'm in the same position as you now; not really that interested in getting it running, especially with Solstice Chronicles: MIA on its way.

Isn't Shadowgrounds closed-source as well? I remember this being the reason for the Linux version not being on Steam; the existing build no longer works and they don't have the source code for the port.
Sorry, you are right. It is not an open-source (nor free software) license, it is a free non-commercial license. I have read that it was open-source from elsewhere, found the github address and used it to recompile the executables for my distro, without ever verifying if the license complied to the Open Source Definition or Four Software Freedoms. Now I have, to my disappointment.
However, the source is there, and if there was any interest in it, people would have fixed the bugs which almost make it unplayable. It seems though that you simply can't get proper attention and mindshare if you try to lure people with half-baked licensing terms. I was going to study the code but realizing this also put me off.
BUT: the source code is there. And I compiled it successfully, got to the ending of Shadowgrounds and played a few levels of Shadowgrounds: Survivor, up to Episode V so far. Aside from the bugs, the game is great, fun, engaging and beautiful even to today's standards.

Valve seem to be tightening their rules on games with sexual content

Could not agree more. How anyone could ever think hiding all sexual content or references away could ever somehow make people more in touch with or responsible for their sexually related behaviour in real life, is completely outside my limits of understanding.
We need more sexually related content, more voices, more points of view, not censorship and limiting sexual content to only what's commercially viable (ie. punching prostitutes, since that's apparently more morally correct content for Steam).

They not gonna get TW3 or GTA removed, but they is dedicated to hurt VN sales for sure.

how you know if the steam version is with DRM? it doesnt have multiplayer afaik, so it probably wont use steamworks and if the developers do not add any other DRM stuff then its DRM free there also
