Would love to see Wasteland 2 and Satellite Reign updated to use the Vulkan renderer - those two could use a few extra FPS.

Oh, that's great! I bought it a while ago, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet, fearing the difficulty; no more! :D
EDIT: Has anyone gotten it to work? I'm not seeing any new difficulty modes after installing the DLC.
EDIT 2: It required a restart of Steam to be applied, in case anyone stumbles on the same issue.

Valve adds OSVR headset support to Steam

There's a number of VR VNC apps for Android that you can use to receive your desktop. It's not incredibly useful though, as they all just put your screen in front of you, whereas I was hoping for a way to have it placed in a virtual theatre for films or to be able to watch 3D or 360 videos, neither of which works.

Quoting: InverseTelecineWhat I really want is an option to stream VR content from a Linux PC to the likes of Cardboard or GearVR using phones/tablets. I have a set up right now that I'm pretty happy with using a Samsung refurbished tablet (so no cellular contract) and a Homido VR goggle set that is big enough to fit the tablet. Works great and cost me about $250 for everything. I don't know of anything that can match that price for VR right now. The problem is all phone VR games are junk, and all the streaming from PC software I know of is windows only. Hopefully this will be an option soon, because I won't be able to afford Oculus/Vive anytime soon.

VK9, the open source project to implement d3d9 over Vulkan continues to improve

If this matures, it means that GPU vendors can stop worrying about D3D9 support in their future drivers, putting all their focus on Vulkan support, which is good news for us.
As others have stated, it would also help Wine eventually.

Quoting: STiATHmh, I don't really get the point in the project except if it is for academic purpose (which is perfectly fine, don't get me wrong there!). Providing a d3d9->vulkan mapping for systems which ship with d3d9? In the end, 2020 we'll rather see Vulkan/DX12 things popping out than having D3D9 or even 11 being used, since most engines will be there by then.
But yet, for Wine which already does all this (basically, providing a WINAPI, HRESULT, IDirect3D9* stuff and windows event handler / STDMETHODCALLTYPE etc.), it may be a good starting point if they wanted to do a d3d9 to vulkan mapping.

Wow, they have colours in space now!? ;) Looks great and quite competently done! Great art design as well, not too stylised, but still slightly removed from our current aesthetics.
Linux overall market-share percentage falls on Steam in October

Quoting: liamdaweWell, I'll have to disagree. Market share is the percentage of income earned by a company, in this case from Linux users, and that's not what the Steam Hardware Survey gathers information on. If the article was reporting on a report from Valve showing that there was a drop in Linux game sales, or similar, then the headline would be accurate, as it is, the survey just shows a drop in number of Linux users subjected to or answering the survey, which may or may not be related to actual market share.Quoting: CybolicWouldn't a more accurate headline be something along the lines of "Percentage of Linux respondents drops on Steam survey in October"? I mean, the Steam Hardware Survey has very little to do with actual market-share percentage and it's certainly not the point of the survey. You did just describe what market share is ;)

I've been beta testing the Linux version and apart from being a fantastic port with zero issues (for me at least), the game itself is also great fun and highly addictive. Definitely a must-buy this Halloween!

I can totally imagine the top-most track, Reappear, playing during the closing credits of this game ^_^

Oh yes, this does look promising! Interestingly, "Tether" is also related to Linux in that the STS-75 NASA space shuttle mission's purpose was to carry the Tethered Satellite System into orbit and the STS-75 was the first NASA mission program to run on the Linux kernel ;)
