RC Mini Racers now available on SteamOS & Linux

I don't see a SteamOS or Linux icon on the store page. Is there a link to an announcement?

EDIT: Found it. I guess my local repo just hasn't updated yet.

Quoting: PeciskI hope Sony involvment means they look for possibility to add Vulkan API to PS4. Considering Vulkan driver is so much easier to support and it is much closer to what they have now, it would be a killer move.

?????
Easier to support than what?
Both XBone and PS4 dont need Vulkan or DX12. Games are developed
particularly for their hardware.

Yes, but if PS4 (or 5) supported Vulkan, a game built for Vulkan would be able to run on Linux, Mac, Windows 7-10, SteamOS, PS4 and Android; that's pretty much every platform out there apart from XBox and Wii U (but Nintendo's in the group as well... we'll see). On the other hand, a game built for DX12 is able to run on XBox and only the latest version of Windows, that's it.
Of course, games still need to be tweaked to run on each platform, but with Vulkan, it's just optimisation and code path changes, not an entirely new port.

Quoting: DonkeyIf I set the native resolution for my primary monitor 1920x1200 the game will not render correctly. If I instead change it to 1920x1080 everything works great. With the lower resolution the rendering is still scaled to full screen without any black bars. To me it definitely looks like certain aspect ratios causes the bug.
I'm running it fullscreen in 1920x1200 without issue in both KDE5/Plasma and XFCE4 on an NVIDIA GTX 970. I haven't tried other resolutions though.

Linux usage on Steam is better than people think

Quoting: ertuquequeI switched to Linux a year and a half ago, I use Steam almost everyday and not even once I've received a Steam Survey... Every month I check the "netmarkedshare" webpage to see more or less the Linux usage. I find it more realistic and "close to real world" usage: http://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=9&qpcustomb=0

For February, it showed a 1.78% Linux usage... an increase over January (1.71%).

Is not Steam usage, I know, but I think it reflects better the Linux usage ratio in Steam that the actual Steam Survey crap.
I've been running Steam daily on Linux since 2013 and have received the survey exactly once. During the brief period where I used Steam through Wine (to play Batman and Deus Ex), I received it about 3 times, in the period of about two months, so yeah, you're not alone.

I really, really, really wished people would learn what the individual words in "hardware survey" mean so we can end this ridiculousness.

Humble Indie Bundle 16 launches, great selection with Sunless Sea now officially on Linux

Quoting: Nyamiou[...] If you look only at HiB that we know have Linux games in them you see also that Linux users always pay more than other users (especially Windows users) and that they represent 5% of the market. So why are we still at 1% on Steam is a mystery to me [...]

Source : http://cheesetalks.net/humble/

That would probably be because the Steam numbers are based on a (skewed) survey, not an actual measurement. I guess this means that HiB is our most accurate number for now?

Nvidia Vulkan Driver updated

Quoting: dubigrasuI have some promising results with this new driver, as in Vulkan is already faster: [...]

That was the Talos Principle benchmark BTW.
Considering that Talos isn't event optimised yet, but basically just running on a wrapper, that's quite impressive!

Stainless Games announce another Carmageddon game, Linux & Mac gamers not happy

Easy on the crowdfunding boycott, folks! Even though I've been bitten by a few projects on KS, there are many others I wouldn't have had the pleasure on playing on Linux, if it hadn't been for KS. For every Carmageddon out there, there's a Wasteland 2, Satellite Reign, Fran Bow, Shadowrun Returns, Dropsy, The Deer God, Neverending Nightmares, Sunset, Warlocks, Zenzizenzic, Dex or FTL; all of which are games I've had the pleasure of getting, and following the development of, through Kickstarter!

Yay, I got quoted! Less yay for the subject. At least, it's nice to see a whole page full of comments requesting the Linux version; we've been a fairly quiet bunch up until now. Hopefully, this will be enough of a kick that they actually either give an honest statement, refunds or release the damn port.

Master of Orion reveals an awesome voice cast, can't wait to have it on Linux

Quoting: drmothI don't particularly like Mark Hamill as an actor, but he's seem really great as a voice actor, impressed.
Oh, he's a fantastic voice actor! Surely you know his performance as The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series (and its films) and the Arkham games.
