Quoting: edono, its too expensive and it never gets cheaper since it gets deleted after a year
Football Manager 2017 price is now at -80% OFF, if you think it is still expensive then this game is really not for you.

I think the point is the 2017 version is now out of date. The new season's started here in the UK and the staff and squads have changed. So if you want it to be realistic (after all it is a simulator of sorts) then you have to buy the new updated version every year. Too expensive for me I'm afraid.

I tried limping on with my old version for a while but I do want the players to be up to date. If you're not bothered by that of course, then you can play the same version forever :) It would be nice if you could just buy an update for the database to stay fresh.

AMD RX Vega GPUs released along with a new AMDGPU-PRO Driver

I'll be sticking with my GTX 970 and i7 4790K until one of them dies but it's great to see AMD putting up some competition. This was actually my first Intel CPU, I've always used AMD in the past for value for money reasons and if they continue on this trend my next CPU will be AMD again.

My next GPU however remains to be seen. I've always used Nvidia on Linux (since 2006) but I will use what's best for me (I don't understand fanboyism of any kind). And btw, I'm very happy with the closed source driver, that's not an issue - at the moment anyway.

What have you been playing on Linux lately and what do you think?

I'm still playing Dying Light, about 70% through the main storyline and over 100 hours clocked up so far. I have to concentrate on one game at a time usually, although I'm dipping in and out of Pony Island as well.

Quoting: fabertaweBought this recently after holding out... for some unknown reason. Anyway, the game is fantastic, love it. I've put in 40 hours just completing all the side quests available so far and having fun exploring, but as far as the story line goes I'm only now about to go to old town. I wish I'd done it already as I won't now be able to compare it with the addition of the new content!

I got the new gun from Gemly this morning but it did take a few attempts with some server errors.

I'm holding out because its past due for the price to drop from $60. It's not a new game anymore. I would have bought it when it was new if not for 1) there were linux issues from the get-go which took them a while to resolve and 2) it was obviously going to get milked for DLC. Any such game I'll just wait a year or two for a GOTY edition that has all the content bundled. I just can't justify paying $60 for a game that came out 2.5 years ago now (or any portion thereof in a 'sale' markdown unless it's extreme).

I bought it in the last sale a few weeks ago with 60% off and it's the "enhanced" edition, so you get practically all the DLC too! Well worth it at that price.

Quoting: Spud13ySo I need a Gemly account in order to get these free updates or would it be going through Steam?

No, the updates are through Steam. The new gun blueprint you have to "purchase" (for free) on their site and then get given a code for Steam or GOG. And to tell the truth it's not worth bothering if you already have the "gun psycho bundle" DLC as the rifle blueprint with that is actually better anyway. So if I'd known that I wouldn't have bothered registering on Gemly.

As for the update itself... the infected seem faster and more agile and tougher than the "Slums" but I hadn't played the "Old Town" before yesterday so I'm not sure if that's anything to do with the update or not.

The new soldier faction are tougher than Rais' thugs but why oh why oh why oh why does it take three head shots to kill one, that's just nonsense!

And it seems they've patched the inventory duplication "bug" - I'm gutted about that :><:

I absolutely loved SOM and would 100% buy a new port (Hi Feral!) :)

The 'Razer DeathAdder Chroma' is quite possibly the nicest mouse I've ever owned

I bought a Logitech G9x in 2012 and it's been superb. Two side buttons, on board profiles, no software, no lights.

The Signal From Tölva, the new open-world FPS from Big Robot may still come to Linux

Quoting: MadeanaccounttocommentSo if the game engine miraculously starts working with minimal involvement and the planets line up just right they may think about releasing it with the conditions that should it ever break in an update they won't be particularly bothered to fix it?

It's honestly what I get from the wording but at least the developers show some interest which is better than none.

I totally get where you're coming from there. The only thing I would say in Big Robot's favour is their Linux support of 'Sir, You Are Being Hunted' was absolutely first class. It's one of my favourite games ever and I played it from the first alpha right through to release and I can honestly say I didn't have a single issue (that I remember now anyway!) and it was totally on par with the Windows version all through development.

I think it may have been the first game I Kickstarted and unfortunately being so good it gave me a skewed view of this. After a few others, where I got burned, I soon came to my senses regarding crowdfunding ;)

Quoting: BeamboomIt's all about the editorial balance. It's nice to find "something else" here, just to spice things up, as long as we doesn't feel it goes at the expense of gaming news.

Agreed. I'm very happy to have the occasional non-gaming article, there's no need to be too strict about it. Something like this is big news and impacts people's desktops (not mine I should add) and running of games ultimately.

Good news for Wayland but a shame for those losing a job.
